DESCRIPTION

Far Cry has players controlling freelance mariner Jack Carver, who has recently arrived at a tropical island. Jack accepted a large sum of money to transport a reporter named Valerie to the island, but when they arrived, the boat was fired upon and sunk. Valerie is now missing, and Jack finds himself alone and outgunned against a mysterious militia. Shortly after heading into the jungle, Jack finds a militia insider who discloses the group's true intentions. What was expected to be a relaxing day in paradise has now turned into a fight for the human race.

Far Cry runs on developer Crytek Studios' own CryENGINE, which features unpredictable enemies that use group tactics to make Carver's job more difficult. Enemy units include scouts, stalkers, snipers, and grenadiers, each of whom can call for reinforcements to arrive by land, sea, or air. Fortunately for players, Carver will gain access to a variety of weapons and items, such as motion-sensing binoculars to help in isolating targets from afar. Fighting, however, isn't always the answer when one is severely outnumbered, and players may choose to rely on stealth tactics to help see them through. ~ Jonathan Sutyak, All Game Guide

“Agreed, Knights of the Old Republic is probably your best bet--only a few games have better storylines than that series, and you do not strike me to be the Planescape: Torment or Betrayal at Krondor type from your other games. Haha.”

“If/When you continue Torchlight, I might have a suggestion.. Since you're using hardcore mode and keep dying.. Are you making use of the "Shared Storage"? It would at least let you get some reasonably good extra equips that are around passed off to potential new characters. Or maybe masses of shit lying around is a lower difficulty thing..”

“@ComradeRavenhawk No I haven't particularly been making use of it just because I really have never gotten far enough with one character to get something that would be of overwhelming value to another character -- Pretty much anything incredibly good I had gotten, I had equipped lol. I wouldn't really say it's a difficulty problem, though, because even on Very Hard I don't think it's anywhere near the hardest game I've ever played, and I usually have no problem getting through the levels. I get through the first 4 to 7 levels, varying per character. It no doubt always happens when I start to get comfortable, and let my guard down. And typically don't realize I'm out of HP pots.”

“I have to say KOTOR was ridiculously unsatisfying at the end. The ending was not worth it IMHO. I would vote either for GR (if you can coop it) or COD, that thing was fun =]

“Although I greatly appreciate all your votes and comments, unfortunately this is all useless now.

I got a new video card (yay!) but for complications I don't care to get into, I had to format my hard-drive (not yay!) but luckily just the C:\ drive (very yay! Lotta data on my other hard-drive that I didn't lose). So, it's a good/bad news situations. Bad news obviously got tons of updates to redownload, I-don't-even-know how many random programs to reinstall, and not to mention all my games. But good news is obviously that I have video card that's 5x better now. =)”

“Hey buddy you listen here lol. First off, I had a 64 card with 0.0 pixel support. So I am NOT complaining about having an outdated 256 with 2.0 pixel support.

Not to mention, secondly, I have a 2.4 gigahertz cpu. So even if I had a better card, there's not many games I'd be able to fully take advantage of it with only 2.4 gigahertz. ”

“The game was a 4-star until the Trigens appear. Then it's a 2-star. The enemy AI was very unfair, and since I played the game about 3 years after it came out, the graphics didn't blow me out of the water like some people.”
