DESCRIPTION
Based on the now classic Wasteland, Fallout is a role-playing game set in a post-nuclear environment. The story picks up years after a two-hour nuclear Armageddon reduced the world to a pile of rubble and debris. Nearly a thousand people were packed into various Vault-Tec survival shelters completed in the late 21st century. Close to eighty years have passed with no knowledge of the outside post-apocalyptic world. You are one of a group of survivors in Vault 13 and the water recycling system is failing. It's time to send someone out of the vault, into the unknown wastelands in an effort to find replacement parts or other survivors. You've been chosen.
Using or modifying one of three pre-generated characters (diplomatic, combative, or deceptive) or building your own character from scratch, you embark on a complex journey. You'll traverse through devastated sites and locations; discovering, exploring, and confronting whatever dangers (violence, gangs, and mutants, to name a few) have developed after eighty years of radiation contamination.
Fallout uses a tactical turn-based combat system and provides a huge array of weaponry (from brass knuckles to rocket launchers). Featuring more than fifty quests, RPG staples such as character skill improvements and ability modifiers allowing your character to grow, and an innovative survivor's guide, Fallout provides a rich, rewarding excursion into the land of the lost.
Do you have what it takes to survive in a mutating world? ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide

“A decent game that paved the way for the sequels. This game is good, but not as good as the first (thats expected though). I played this and the sequel after Fallout 3 and they both seem more dark and gritty that the latest game. ”

“Playing the original Fallout was almost a revelatory experience for me. I still remember the DOS-based demo version, set in Junktown. Hilarious characters, dark themes, and expertly-crafted post-apoc sci-fi came together for a truly amazing game.”

“Fallout is the unrivaled king-of-the-ring when it comes to role-playing games. While its engine may seem a bit dated, its charm and mechanics are timeless. Interplay's masterful setting and ambiance have yet to be matched, even amongst its sequels.”

“A very dark view of the future of earth which has be devastated by a Nuclear war. A very gory, unforgiving game that has you coming back for more, especially when that NPC gets a critical and tears you apart.”
