DESCRIPTION
The formidable workhorse F/A-18 Hornet flies directly from the skies over the Middle East to your PC screen in a simulation depicting actual satellite-imaged terrain of Iraq, Kuwait, Iran, and the Persian Gulf. In F/A 18: Operation Iraqi Freedom, players fly carrier operations from the cockpit of the F/A-18 while experiencing realistic flight and aircraft dynamics, detailed 3D panels, powerful state-of-the-art weapon systems, day and night missions, and preset or user-configured armament loads.
Escort, Suppression of Enemy Air Defenses (SEAD), Combat Air Patrol (CAP), and Close and Deep Air Support (CAS/DAS) missions feature opposition from enemy aircraft (MiGs and Sukhoi) and surface-to-air missiles, as well as cooperative support from Coalition pilots. Allied units include helicopters, tanks, and trucks along with F-16 Falcons, F-15 Eagles, A-10 Warthogs, F-117A Nighthawks, B-2 Stealth Bombers, and B-52 Bombers. A powerful Mission Creation Tool lets players create unlimited alternate scenarios using realistic terrain elevations, weather conditions (fog, haze, clouds, sun effects), ordnance, and more.
Multiplayer action is available for both LAN and Internet users as they carry out air-to-air and air-to-ground combat missions including destruction of satellite-identified targets within Iraq, elimination of enemy ground units (SAMs) or engagement of enemy aircraft. Carrier operations feature realistic launches with voice control from Landing Signal Officers as players lift off for action in Operation Iraqi Freedom. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
