DESCRIPTION
Excessive Speed offers a top-down perspective on 14 tracks with six combat racing gameplay modes. Grand Prix (race for money on 5 random tracks) or Championship (race all 14 tracks beginning with only two lives) modes require players to first unlock tracks by earning stars in the Track Fighter segment. Track Fighter consists of Single, Time Trial, and Dynamite Trial races. Multiplayer races have slightly different rules than the single-player competitions and up to four players can participate in split-screen action.
In addition to seven unique cars, 17 power-ups are available, divided into two groups. Six automatic power-ups include earthquake, eraser, full repair, repair, ghost, and shield, while 11 can be carried and used at the player's discretion: heat-seeking missile, rear shot, rockets, heat-seeking mine, chaingun, freeze, turbo, double turbo, jump, oil and twister. Excessive Speed features a simple interface consisting only of arrow, control and shift keys, and customization options like music and graphics. ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
