Description

EverQuest is a online multiplayer game that features over 12 different races, 14 classes, and an abundance of special skills, spells, and abilities to transform your character into a unique person in a thriving world. As you connect to a server for the first time, you will notice hundreds and thousands of people online — all of whom are either part of a guild (a group of characters playing together), going solo, or looking for an adventure.

I first started playing EQ when it came out back in '99 and was owned by Verant (989 studios - a sub company of SOE, oddly enough) and it was awesome! I remember first creating a character on my friends account before I went out and bought one myself. I created a human monk and played him whenever I could. I had no idea that this was the start of my "crack addiction".

From here, I purchased the game for myself and upgraded my internet connection to a whopping 56k modem so that I could play EQ with "a lot less lag". Man, I thought I was rockin back then. I could zone within a couple minutes and I didn't lag out every 5 minutes (instead my ISP disconnected me every hour automatically). Anyways, I created a new character for myself on my account and placed him on the EC'I server. He was a new race, called iksar, and he was my previous class, a monk. My new characters name was Kasantitz, and yes, me being the lovely mature adult that I was at the time, made that name purposefully sound dirty.

From here, I worked my way up through the levels and did many a quest with my friends, finally peaking out at about level 52. This took me several years, mainly because I created a couple of alts to play with other friends.

In 2005, I decided that EQ was changing too much for me and that I wasn;t interested in it anymore ( I hadn't really been that interested after they came out with the Luclin expansion). So i cancelled my account and moved on with my life.....well, that is, until they came out with EQII.

I started playing EQ2, and to start with, it was a nice change. It was a fun game, had similarities with the previous EQ, and it most of, was the new hot thing. Eventually, I got tired of EQ2, just as I had EQ1, and ended up cancelling my account.

I swore off gaming completely up until a few months ago when my friend started playing EQ again. He said that they were doing this thing called Living Legacy, where all the old players could come back and play for free for a full month. I figured, eh, wth, I can play for a month and drop it, right? Wrong....i'll be damned if I didn't get sucked right back in!

I am now an 80th level monk (yes it is still good ol' Kasantitz), 200+ aa, and in a raiding guild on the Bertox server ( I switched servers to play with rl friends).

I didnt go into detail, but there were many times in between quitting that I went back and played EQ again for a couple of months, dropped it, went back, dropped it again.

It is definitely the most addictive game I have ever played, and it sadly has a place in my heart that will never be lost. There are so many things to see/do/explore/train/fight/quest in EQ that I assume it will take the downfall of the servers themselves to make me quit playing...and even by that point, I may have picked up an EQEMU server to play on...

Damn, you EverCrack!

earned the title "the Persistent" over the summer during the Festival of Might. GMs held GM events that would earn you points. I was able to earn 3rd place once, during the test of wisdom. But my persistence in attending most of the events had earned me the title from the GM at the closing ceremonies.

So me and my brother make some erudites on a pvp server in EQ1, I'm a mage and he's a wizard. We're wandering around the dark forest and see another wizard, he doesn't notice me, I'm like sitting a little bit lower on the geometry kinda down a slope near a river, the enemy wizard is a little higher than us, we're like level 2 or 1, he starts blasting my brother and hurts him bad since you start out with like 9hp as a erudite lol, my brother blasts back and lands some spells on him so I see this go on and start blasting the enemy wizard from where I am and I can't be seen by him I'm still on this little edge near a river. He almost takes my brother out and I'm spamming my newbie fireball or whatever and we end up killing this guy and he had no clue where the extra damage was coming from (lol). So we take all his loot and run off into the forest and never see him again lol.. he problably logged and QQ'ed.

So I'm in lower guk with my barbarian warrior trying to get some FBSS, the group leader made a rule and said that when new people join they have to wait 15 mins to roll on the FBSS so people don't get the FBSS and leave like asses. I've been there for like an eternity and it FINALLY drops, I'm crapping my pants and I'm the only one in the group that would get any use out of it, the new guy rolls on it and I'm like "??" the group leader is like "your 15 mins isn't up yet" he didn't say much but I'm sure he was pissed so the leader said it goes to me and I was literally sweating and shaking in my chair with excitement. All in all It was ownage, I think way down the road I sold it for lots of plat and ended up with a mith bp which at the time was useless for warriors because it was all +agi and shit but no one knew anything back then about tanking so it was more of a status thing like "omg you have mith bp!" lol win.
