DESCRIPTION
Enter a brave new world of online gaming and virtual social interaction in Entropia Universe. Billed by developers at MindArk as "the next generation of interactive entertainment," this title strives not only to provide a state-of-the-art massively multiplayer adventure, but also all the tools and trappings to allow the development of a socially comprehensive, living community. Even those characters who never plan to raise a weapon or leave the safety of their virtual neighborhoods are welcomed to take up residence on the fantasy planet of Calypso, adding to the population, diversity, and development of the in-game society and culture.
Though Entropia Universe puts a heavy emphasis on the social aspects of the massively multiplayer, persistent world experience, characters that venture beyond the safety of the city walls will face dangerous mutants and rogue robots in familiar, battle-oriented adventure gaming. Player characters can earn game money by slaying these dangerous entities and clearing the wilderness for future city expansion. On the other hand, characters can also earn game money by becoming cautious craftspeople and providing services to other paying characters.
The most notable feature of Entropia Universe is the ability for players to convert real money into game money and back. By adding actual funds to an in-game account, users can convert their cold hard cash into game credits that their characters can use to purchase equipment and services. At the time of its release, players can obtain the game and join the online world free of any monetary charge. True to the overall theme of real-world interaction, developers raise the funds required to support Entropia Universe within the context of the game itself, by charging characters for certain services and auctioning off special equipment.
Editor's Note: Entropia Universe originally went public in 2003, under the title Project Entropia. In April 2006, MindArk officially changed the online game's title, in order to reflect the far-reaching community that the publisher believes the game has fostered. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide

“(Opinions based on VU10.0.7) To start the game on the new engine is extremely beautiful, and that alone brought me back into at least trying out the game again. Everything is done terrifically the engine is fairly well optimized though requires a hell of a machine to pull off, and the design is fairly cool though some of the armor's/weapons look exactly the same but with recolored parts sometimes. Now right now there's only like 3 things to do, mining hunting or crafting. Really you have to hunt since the other two require quite a bit more money put into them at first. Hunting also requires money but you can have fun for about a week or two from 10 bucks. The combat itself is boring, it's like an FPS but it is not solid and the monsters won't do anything besides run at you blindly and claw/bite at you doing a random amount of damage while you sit there and spam left mouse button.
So just to repeat, no you can not make money as a f2p player right now, you have to spend at least 10 bucks to start out in this game until they implement sweating which should be within a few months. It is a good idea to get a mentor, though again they gotta implement this as well. Now here comes the big EU secret, this game is in fact not an MMORPG, but more like an online gambling RPG simulation. You put money in, then there is a very very tiny chance you will get any out. There are a few people I've seen get 36k PED off of one random kill (that's 300 USD if you cash out) but to get these kind of drops it's about a 1 in 1,000,000,000,000 chance, literally. So for the most part you'll be putting in money, spending it on ammo/repair until you run out hopefully getting your skill up very very high, usually with 10 bucks you can get up to level 2 or 3 light BLP from the looks of it.
So yah if you got tons of money and just need something to play casually (or if you have LOTS of money and need something to invest into + play for a very long time very often) I would look into this game as it is fairly fun but only if you have money.”
