DESCRIPTION

From the confines of the halls and examination rooms of a hospital emergency room, Emergency Room: Disaster Strikes takes you to the street, to three catastrophic disaster situations patterned after events straight from newspaper headlines. It's a bad time for the community that surrounds Legacy Memorial Hospital — a massive earthquake has just ravaged the region, causing untold damage to humans caught in the building wreckage and a rush hour freeway collapse.

If that's not enough, a crippling winter storm has battered the shores of the community, resulting in widespread mudslides and flooding. The human toll is climbing steadily. But, the disasters in this Los Angeles suburb don't end here — on top of the natural disasters, a huge freeway pileup has just occurred requiring response units from an emergency room already stretched thin.

Your mission, as an emergency room physician, is to reach these areas of distress and administer quickly and efficiently to the myriad of patients exhibiting medical maladies ranging in importance from simple abrasions to code blue gunshot wounds. These problems are ranked in three difficulty levels and personal progress in the game is measured in similar fashion to the game's predecessors. You begin as a Medical Student and must climb up the ranks to Intern, Resident, Attending, and finally Legacy Memorial Hospital's Chief of Staff. Promotion centers on a grading scale tied to the number of successfully treated patients.

The game features 100 new cases from which to choose, more than 50 medical tools and tests to learn and master, a plethora of possible diagnoses and over 250 video segments from the disaster sites and hospital exam rooms. Additional gameplay includes an in-game computer and reference tool, medical procedures designed to reflect reality by a real life Emergency Room doctor and even a germ warfare arcade game, Shotz, to use while relaxing in the hospital's doctor lounge.
