DESCRIPTION

Dynasty Warriors is a 3D-based fighting game developed by an in-house development studio within Koei. Koei is better known for its third century China war simulations. This is their first crack at the whip with a PlayStation fighting game.

The game is weapons based, meaning there is no hand-to-hand combat that does not incorporate weapons. The storyline is in line with the Koei war sims, so this is a fighting game based on real history. The characters are pulled straight from the historical novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Each character is either based on or tied to one of the legendary warlords who fought to unite under their own kingdom.

The game is one of the first of its kind to rely heavily on fighting strategy — keeping true to the Koei tradition — and the use of good defense is often the key to victory. The game's character models feature over 600 texture mapped and shaded polygons each and also make use of Motion Capture technology that runs at 60 frames per second.
