DESCRIPTION
Duke Nukem is the first game in the series of Duke Nukem's adventures. The storyline is simple: Dr. Proton has taken over Earth's largest city (not mentioned by name, but apparently New York City), and is releasing Techbots in his plan to take over the world. Dr. Proton is a formerly respected scientist that went through an awful radiation accident. Now he is releasing the Techbots from his guarded underworld lair.
The only person that can save the world is Duke Nukem. His orders from the CIA are to stop Dr. Proton using an array of futuristic items and weapons. Duke is dropped from a plane onto a skyscraper and must find Dr. Proton in his underworld location and defeat him to succeed.
You progress through the game by accomplishing various tasks on each level, including collecting keys and computer chips, and finding the way out. All the while, you're evading (or preferably shooting) the evil robots and other enemies that have taken over the world.
You only have a certain amount of health. When a robot touches you or fires at you, you lose one health point. Luckily, you can pick up health points by picking up food and drink along the way. Duke can also jump and fall a great distance without being hurt. Progress through three full chapters to reach the ultimate showdown with Dr. Proton! ~ Mark Kanarick, All Game Guide

Fallout2Forever: I picked up one of the two aforementioned dumbed-down sequels this summer at an auction for $3, but I still have never played the original. I did hear that it was the best of the series.”
