DESCRIPTION
It's time to jump into the hot seat and smoke it up. As a cop and former stock car racer, you jump at the opportunity when your Lieutenant places you undercover as a wheelman for one of the biggest crime syndicates in the country. Now it's up to you to book the bad guys, but who ever said that you couldn't have a little fun for yourself while you're at it?
Driver is broken into Undercover (story/career mode), Chase (default films or watch your own movie like chases), Training (a collection of tasks that set you on the right track), Take a Ride (a free run mode across all four cities), and Driving Games (a collection of pursuit, getaway, cross town checkpoint, trail blazer, survival, and dart track mini-games).
Undercover acts as Driver's primary mode of play. Here you work for a major crime syndicate and are ready for a part in an important operation as the driver. Of the fifty included missions, most require you to make cross-town drives, deliveries, or pickups. Depending on the type of mission, obstacles will include police chases, time elimination, damage to your vehicle, and more. Options allow for the ability to set the cop difficulty, vibration, auto handbrake, sound, control configuration, high scores, and cheats.
Driver is set throughout Miami, New York, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Each location is modeled after its real life counterpart and feature operating street lights, real traffic, cops on the prowl, pedestrians, and much more. Luckily a map is presented throughout each race because missions can become disorientating from time to time. The cars that you will be driving in Driver are a variety of American muscle cars from the '70s that are powerful, yet indescribably funky. These cars can take a lot of damage; everything from bumpers to bonnets, hubcaps, windows, and taillights will take a beating. ~ Brad Penniment, All Game Guide
