DESCRIPTION
Using lightning reflexes and determination, you, as Dirk the Daring, must rescue your lady-fair, Princess Daphne in this DVD Video animated adventure. Singe the Evil Dragon, inhabitant of a castle filled with monsters and obstacles created by a dark wizard, has kidnapped the princess and you must make a perilous journey through a myriad of strange locations and face deadly challenges to reach her.
During your journey, you'll encounter such diverse creatures, characters and obstacles as bubbling ooze, falling platforms, ropes of fire, tentacles, sliding stairs, a haunted hallway, goons, bats and a phantom knight. You'll dodge huge rolling balls (the better to crush you with!), escape pools of water, fight magical swords and weapons, "fly" a horse, meet the Lizard King, skirt whirlpools, rapids, lava and Mudmen and confront Singe.
The DVD Video version of Dragon's Lair contains every scene from the original laser disc Arcade game, selected "mirrored scenes," and a bonus video — a "work in progress" film provided by creators Don Bluth and Gary Goldman shot during the making of the game. Unlike the original Arcade game, however, scenes (rooms) must be played in a preset order.
Options include a choice to watch the entire adventure unfold without interaction as well as Digital Leisure website www.digitalleisure.com support for a complete set of moves if you get stuck. During gameplay, you are given five lives with infinite continues. Action in the game is controlled either by keyboard input or video remote control (with pause options) through a series of onscreen prompts and quick reflexes. Only directional movement and swordplay are the viable user controlled aspects of Dirk's quest.
Ready to do battle with the bizarre and deadly creatures that stand in the way of rescuing a damsel in distress? Enter the Dragon's Lair and put yourself to the test! ~ Michael L. House, All Game Guide
