FYI Anything I add to this thread will be SPOILERS!!!

Now ME3 for the most part was fun. I was a long for the ride all the way up to where you where running to that light to get back onto the Citadel. Then you get screwed up and then the game turns into that slow pace shootout of a MW. Then the conversation with the kid who is the true all mighty in the game and then I'm given 3 things to pick from. I was very disappointed how they ended it.

Now it's a Sci-fi game so I had a feeling it was going to end with society reverting back to some primal thing. Most books in Sci-fi that have humanity meeting....well god or become to powerful usually end up going back to being cavemen.

But what really made me mad was after the credits you have that stargazer and kid talking about "The Shepard" and I was like.....WHAT! NO GOD DAMMIT!!

I was hoping ME would of been different. I was hoping for an epic battle and a epic group hug of the masses.....at least for my Paragon Ending. I took all that time to build up this fleet and to have this epic battle only to boil everything down to 3 choices. I don't even get to fight Harbinger or really take on the more feared Reapers in the game.

Now I won't say it's worse then DA2 because DA2 sucked. That crappy game sucked HARD! The ME Series was fun but I was disappointed that out of a trilogy they end it with such a weak ending. I do find it funny though. ME1 was boring until the last 2 hours and ME3 was AWESOME until the last hour of the game. Poor Bioware needs to find a happy medium.”

Right. Explain to me how the hell they can think that taking a major point of the trilogy, that being the race of Protheans (which are key, KEY elements in both Mass 1 and 2) and basically regulate all that into Day 1 DLC? It's basically to me like they're saying "Protheans? Naw, they're not as important as we made them out to be. They're just MacGuffins. Buy our DLC!!!" ”

“Yeah lots of people jumped on that. Which is crazy! Javik had a massive role in that game. To not have him kills off a ton conversations and of stuff. I don't like the path the game industry is going with DLC. The down fall is most gamers are just to dumb not to buy it. Even I spent $80 on a game that isn't built very well. The game has tons of model glitches and rendering problems. On top of that crappy Deus Ex style ending.”

I was like GOD NO! It's like Final Fantasy 4 all over again. The whole damn game is one enemy. But then after you beat him. The real boss shows up.

Of course in ME3 its a damn child and you get to do nothing with it. You don't get to fight you don't get anything epic. You get a 20 minute speech of crap then have to pick one of the 3 choices but no matter what Shepard dies.

“I don't know who I'd blame for this FUBAR more myself. EA for probably sticking their finger in the pie and no doubt helping BioWare "tweak" a few things so they can monetize it. Or BioWare who went along with this bullshit fail ending to an otherwise stellar trilogy in the first place.

People are saying "Oh those people who want a better ending are just a very loud and local MINORITY."

Funny, I didn't think an 18,000 poll on BioWare's social network against the endings, a Facebook petition that's drawing thousands to it every day (and raising money to send people to PAX), near universal revile to the ending results on just about every forum I've visited, as a fucking "Minority."

This is the first game I've ever seen that has this large a multiple movement against a developer's decision on a video game's end. Ever. ”

“For me, I feel like I was shorted. They could still have The Shepard sacrifice themselves, or live, or take over the reapers, or even have Earth die. Just like the way the game does now. The could even have man and machine merge, even reset the technology by destroying the relays in the universe. Just like the endings do. But I wanted an ending. I wanted at least 1 to 2 full hours of an ending that made me feel good that it ended.

Not the painful 20 min ending that I saw. I've seen 3 endings now and they are disappointing. You figure since I spent almost the full game on disc two that when I had to switch back to disc one to end it. That I was going to get one hell of an ending, but no.

I feel ripped off. I spent 60 to 80 dollars on 3 different games. Over 120 plus hours on those games. Created 6 different characters each with something slightly different. And what was I rewarded with? A lack luster 20 minute ending.

Before ME3 hit some of my friends where talking about the reapers. And they asked "Do you want to know why the reapers are attacking?"

I said "No."

When they asked why this was my response. "No matter what Bioware tells I will not like it. I would rather be left in the dark on why they are attacking then ever give me a reason. It's like believing in God. We now what the Bible says. But what would happen if we ever found out the truth. And it wasn't exactly what we wanted. You would hate it and even blame God. So I would rather not know."

I could of still get an epic ending fighting the reapers and would be left up to guessing why they did it. Which! If you every played Demon's Souls or Dark Souls most of the gamers are left up to guessing about the story. Which makes those games awesome and they don't have an epic journey like Mass Effect.”

Hell, the ending choices themselves weren't terrible but the execution of it was just terrible. Game was doing so well all the way up until Harbinger lasers you in the face, after that the whole thing just goes screwball.

It's like they made the game then hired some random off the street with very little knowledge of ME and just went "Write endings for us!"

“what grates me more and more now that I think about it, is that the endings completely null and void the reason to play the games full on paragon or renegade. Why? Because you're not locked out of the choices you're ultimately left with, choice A, B, or C.

I could go balls out Paragon and still leave myself open for the whole "Destroy the Reapers" ending. I could go full on Renegade and still go on to the "Control the Reapers" end.

Which to me just makes me ask, why the frick should I even bother to be heroic or anti-heroic throughout the series when the end basically makes it pointless to do so?

For that matter, why even have paragon/renegade interrupts in the game in the first place when it ultimately means absolutely nothing?”

Mostly because the others didn't make sense and were even worse, I mean come on. Control simply means you are no better than TIM and Synthesis is messing with all DNA (which scientifically makes even less sense then the whole Mass Effect thing) without anyones consent.

Sure I have to wipe out the Geth and EDI but that still gets rid of the Reapers and prevents and future cycles dealing with them.

“Well... An "iconic" trilogy that is "the best series this generations of games has to offer" is not going to be played by me due to the fact that they did not go the extra mile and make the whole series accessible to my preferences.

I'm the kind of person that WILL purchase an entire series (even after the first) if new iterations look impressive to me. I bought both Dead Space 1 and 2 after seeing how amazing the second one looked. I bought metal gear 2 even though I had to purchase 1 for my original playstation (way after the fact) to play it... The list goes on, so I won't bore you guys...

In any case, if this game is the "standard" for "best trilogy of this generation" and my friend Gary says "It makes me so sad you're missing out on such an epic series" then why is it that even though the second and third installment are on playstation the first one is on lock down?

This is BIOWARE! This isn't Sony, this isn't Microsoft, this isn't SuckerPunch or Santa Monica studios, this isn't Epic Games, or Nintendo, this isn't a company exclusive to one console and even IF Mass Effect 1 was an exclusive title - I've seen exclusives jump to PS3 after the huge fan lust dissipates; Castlevania: Harmony of Despair, Star Ocean 4, hell even Tales of Vesperia has plans to come on over to Playstation.

I'm willing to give them my money, but I want the whole fucking experience.”

I doubt Microsoft would want to hand over one of their star 360 exclusive's to Sony (even if it would be epic)

Also I should point out the ME2 and 3 games have always had issues with PS3 hardware, hell even the ME1 port had massive coding issues for the PC.

I just think that ME1 was never really designed around being on anything other then the 360 from how it plays on other systems.”

“@Roxas-UrBoxas Just play it as a Duology (If that is even a word) then as ME1 was kinda terrible in some ways with a unwieldy inventory system, the combat was irritating at times, the level up system was far to big and unneeded, the vehicle exploration was weird as hell as well.

The only real benefit from playing ME1 is the exprience of weirdness, more so with ME2 and 3 out as they easily outclass the original (at least for me) in the areas that were irritating.

The choices can be done from a free DLC for PS3 anyway (Which 360 and PC owners had to buy for whatever reason)

Also its hardly an iconic trilogy of this generation, most people I talk to who game don't even know what Mass Effect is. Though it is good enough to warrant playing (renting ot buying is totally up to you).

Don't dismiss a game series out of hand because Microsoft decided it didn't want to give a game to its competition but EA decided to give the last 2 games out of the trilogy to the PS3.”

“@maggiefiasco Oh I know that, but they removed the inventory (thank god, I don't like the whole "This piece of armour has 2 better shield rating! Time to upgrade my armour!)

I prefer the system where you can change your looks and stuff and those armour pieces give you different stats but not finding random ass suits of armour in some random ass house on some random ass planet.

The level up system is now more refined so its not so bleeding long, it even got improved in ME3 so now you pick how your powers evolve down different pathes you can pick.

ME2 even reinserted the vehicle sections as free DLC if you brought the game new, ME3 however lacks any kind of vehicle exploration. (The Mako was never hard to drive really, its was kinda unwieldy though not to mention my character ended up being so powerful that it was quicker and safer to be out of the Mako to kill things)

A used copy is also going to mean you lose out on free DLC and the MP for 3 (Which is actually quite good)”

I'm trying to get back in touch with the same guy that I talked to in my latest blog post and see if he has anything else to say on what's up with the recent news coming out of BioWare. Which isn't good, starting out, since they posted, then hastily yanked a post stating that they weren't considering any kind of ending rewrite, only to have a senior member of Bio/EA come out and say that, for all intents and purposes, they have no comment other to say that they haven't ruled it out.

I sincerely feel for the poor bastards that have to wade through the crowd that's going to be waiting for them, and rightfully demanding some kind of concrete answers, at PAX East this April 6.

I find if you can find a few reviewers out there that you respect, then they agree on a game, and the public rates it above average, then it's a safe bet you may like it.”

“I have the utmost respect for Bioware and the ME series, and I fully understand that balancing artistic goals vs fan expectations in an ending is an extremely daunting task.

Even so, I'd prefer an amazing game with a lousy ending over 40 hours of lousy gameplay with a killer ending.

What happens with ME3 is that the ending invalidates most, if not all of, the decisions/choices/alignment stances you've taken throughout ME, ME2, and ultimately ME3.

As the end to a TRILOGY of games, it should give you a sense of closure for the current status quo. It doesn't. It leaves way too many threads out there to be what I consider even remotely satisfying on any level.

If they cared, which I hope they still do, I wouldn't have gone into "bunker mode" like they're doing right now. Addressing the matters at hand in a quick and timely manner would've helped. But they haven't. Not yet. I think they will at PAX East, but in the meantime it's just damaging their reputation (and, ultimately their profits) to the point that it looks almost irreparable to the core base that made the ME series as critically acclaimed as it has been up to this point.

Casey Hudson said in an interview that we, the players, are "co-creators" in the series. That our decisions lead to endings that are beyond A, B, C decisions and that they'll get appropriate closure to the storyline.

Now look at the end results, the massive protests, the facebook, twitter, etc etc movements and statements being made that reflect the very fact that the ending to the story flies in the face against what we've been told.

If that wasn't the case, then we wouldn't even be having this discussion as is. ”

“I didn't like DA2 at all. They took all the great exploration of Origins, and Awakening and boiled it down to one large bland town, and 3 cookie-cut dungeons. Which you will see over, and over, and over again. Fight the same enemies over and over and over again.

“I disagree. I'll try my best not to reveal spoilers to Mykalgaidin.

1st - The combat only felt smooth with the rogue, and the rogue only....OH! And something tells me that you played PC Mishy. So we might not agree on this. I played 360 and even when the combat in Origins/Awakening felt blocky it worked. Also O/A didn't have a cooldown on the attacks. I though that change was stupid. I wasn't too disappointed with how you leveled up but I saw nothing wrong with O/A's leveling system.

In DA2 the combat felt like I had to micro manage more then I did in O/A. When it came to fighting if I didn't watch my companions 24/7 and make sure that each attack/item/movement was correct I would watch my team wipe instead.

2nd - The way the weapons and inventory felt was stupid. Not being allowed to upgrade your companions with armor was dumb, but it was almost pointless to give them new weapons. Same with Hawke you get a crap load of worthless items that I spent the time selling then using them. Then you have all this worthless money that you can't do anything with. The only time money felt important was when I got to built traps or poisons, but that's only if Hawke was trained in it.

3rd - Now the night and day system didn't bother me. But doing the same stuff for all 3 chapters did. There was no change to them at all. Sure the main story was different but you did the same random boring night fights, some of the side quests felt the same, and you did the same collect quests. BORING! I don't mind doing collect quests as long it doesn't feel like the exact same quest I just did.

4th - For an RPG the level of exploring was a joke. Kirkwall is a joke of a town it may feel big but you revisit the same areas over, and over that it's more boring to explore then enjoy. Then you had a cave dungeon, temple dungeon, and sewers. That's it. You will see the same place over and over as well. There was nothing new or exciting about revisiting any of the places. OH! But then if Bioware wanted you to visit a different part of a dungeon they would concert up a walkway and then you would have to take another path but in same said dungeon. By the 3rd chapter you would have walked and re-walked all the walkways. Still nothing new same area even if you went into a whole different cave. Boring!

5th - Now I don't know about the PC version but the PS3 and 360 versions I do. If you did not install the game, you had a very good chance that the game would glitch on you. Ruining your saved games.

So what happens? While playing I noticed that characters, and environment would start to lose it rendering. After time all the in game models would only look like grey models not characters. Same with environment it would lose all rendering and be blank grey areas. This would lead to the game freezing up.

I had to have save points just to make sure I didn't lose any of my progress. Even after installing on the systems there was still a 50/50 change the game would still do this.

6th - Now the interaction with your companions is fun and that I enjoyed a lot. This was really the only good thing that I took away from DA2.

What pissed me off the most was the story. This damn game was an intermission game and that was very disappointing. The whole back ground story about the Mages vs Templars sounded awesome, until I played a mage and used blood magic and no one cared. Crap! You shove the staff into your body and no one said otherwise, but the game was like "DEATH TO THE MAGE!". Or when I got to endgame it comes off with the "to be continued". Damn game should of been called Dragon Age: Meeting Hawke.

Also I was very disappointed that Anders had to be a main character. Because in one of my runs I gave Anders back to the Templars. Then in DA2 I find out he is now a Grey Warden and on the run. That made me very mad.

Another reason why I dislike DA2. I was a damn Mage! And I sided with the Mages and they still killed themselves and I still had to fight them. POINTLESS!

Dragon Age 2 is one of Bioware's worst games I have played. They tried to merge high points from other great Bioware games which they didn't need too. They didn't really need to do anything new to Dragon Age at all, but they did and it was disappointing.”

“I'm just curious what the hell he was doing during those 3 year gaps in between chapters. I mean, the whole city's goning to hell and you'd think that in all that time he spent there, he'd be doing more.

Instead we get 100 random quests in the same 3 damn dungeons with three main plot points, BUT in between the first two, you'd think that Hawke would be doing SOMETHING to make a positive (or negative, however you wanted to play him) impact on the city he's currently living in. It's like, "battle/battle/exposition/go into a 3 year coma" So I have to agree and second EVERYTHING Darth said about the game.

Oh and God don't get me started on the fucking plot holes in this turkey.

Siding with the mages at the end, you're kicking Templar ass and Orsino goes bat shit Blood mage crazy. I was like "Wait.....wait....what....What THE FUCK IS THIS MONKEY BULLSHIT?!!!"

it makes more sense if you side with the templars, but even then, if you sided with them then the fight with Meredith shouldn't have happened. Different end bosses for the path you took.

Another glaring story fuck up is the inability of anyone in the city to realize, should you be playing Mage Hawke, that you're an apostate and possible blood mage (should you pursue that path), yet NO ONE tries to arrest you or put you in the tower. I'm all for suspension of disbelief, but that's just insulting. That's not only insulting, it's lazy and stupid writing.

Shit I could go on, but to be honest, I got fed up with it after two playthroughs (mage and templar, Fighter and Mage classes).

“From what I've heard they're taking the things that worked from the first game and whatever worked in the second game and combining them into a Voltron-like behemoth of Dragon Age-goodness.

I've actually started the game now, and so far it's not taking a hold of me the way Origins did. I mean, yes, I have a lot of control over how Hawke responds to people, but I feel like I was handed this premade character and told "This is his/her/its role. Deal with it." In Origins (never got around to Awakenings) the actual origins section of the story gave me real ownership in the character. It made me care about who this person was and where they were going and more importantly, why they were doing whatever it was that they were doing. My main was a human noble. From the very beginning I wanted nothing more than to hunt down and kill the traitorous fuck that handed my family over to be killed. Yes, he was voiced by Tim Curry and that is awesome, but that didn't dull the sense of satisfaction when I finally ended his shit.

So far, I don't really have a sense of who Hawke is. I've been given this character with no sense of history (despite the rather sad and forced "fallen sibling" cliche they tried foisting on me) and told that she (I always play a female in 3rd Person games that give me that choice, for reasons that I will get into later) should matter to me. It doesn't work that way, and Bioware should fucking know better. Fire the hack that wrote this drivel and bring back the guys that wrote KOTOR, that shit was EPIC.”

Hawke didn't disappoint me just the over all game. They fixed areas I thought didn't need it, and limited areas and other RPG elements that they didn't need too. I was all up for a new characters, new settings, a new story in the DA series it just didn't turn out that way.

A little of track - For me personally when Dragon Age: Origins came out I was hoping this series would turn out like a series of books...just as games, not a graphic novel or anything.

So the series would of been called Dragon Age, and each (book) game would be called Origin, The Life of Hawke, The Fall of the...., etc. That never happened and I was disappointed when they did a title called Awakening. I was really excited for DA when it was in development and followed it religiously so I was crushed when DA.....2 came out.”

7-8/10 for me, I liked it as much as Origins really. But then again this is all subjective xD Hell I found the Deep Roads and Ostagar deeply annoying and it felt extremely annoying to me, it really was a barrier to me having more playthroughs of Origins.

I prefer DA2 because ot me nothing felt overly long and drawn out. Of course the flaws that are there I can see but they don't bother me so much.

Any having listened to Bioware's reasons regarding decisions (Such as the level reusing) they really do seem to make sense to me at any rate.

Nothing special really happens. YAY! Hawke is the champ now! ......sure didn't feel like it.

Crap the game is technically played over 10 years and you really only play 3 years of the game. So when everything changes it feels like I wasn't really a part of it. I get filled in by Varric and then the game plays on as if nothing really happened. It's a very boring game.

Then endgame comes and just when the game gets good it stops. DA:O had closer, DA:O and a purpose, DA:O is and was better.”

“I bleed RPG. It's almost all I play. I will almost always favor traditional or new styles to RPG as long as it still feels like an RPG. Most of these new RPGs are now seen as nothing more then add-ons to games.

Now I won't get into a debt over the meaning of "Role Playing Games" in this thread. But Dragon Age 2 is a lesser form of what an RPG is. DA:O is an RPG regardless even if it felt mundane or not. DA2 felt more like a lure to non-RPG fans then anything else.”

“You know what I found odd, and kind of backs darth's assessment here, is that the "alignment" based dialogue should have had more of an impact on how I as a player acted or reacted to any given situation. The more "angry" options I chose should have opened up alternative characters to interact with with instead of the usual good guy helping the poor and downtrodden bloke that came along asking me for a favor.

I should have been given some leeway into actually meeting up with Coterie thugs, working with them, trashing the city, etc. That in turn should have given me a rather nasty reputation around town, and the fact that me as that person becoming Champion of Kirkwall would have had a more direct and visually noticeable change on the city itself. I mean, me being the "evil" thug I should've walked out, seen the streets trashed, graffiti on the walls saying "Hawke must die" and even having my statue defaced or something.

Instead it's just an empty feeling....nothing. Sure I talked like a hero, but........that's it? Not even a halo around my head, debuffs against really evil opponents, auto buffs for my like-minded companions? nothing? really? siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh.”
