DESCRIPTION

The Black Shadow Warriors have gunned down Billy Lee's girl, Marion. In Double Dragon II: The Revenge, Billy and his brother Jimmy are out for — you guessed it — revenge. Taking place a year after the events in the original Double Dragon, the game lets you take on the role of Billy as you punch and kick your way through nine levels of thugs, muggers, street chicks, and other gang-bangers. Locations include the inner-city headquarters of the gang, a heliport, aboard a chopper, an undersea base, the Forest of Death, the Mansion of Terror and other brutal places.

If you need help, a friend can join in as Jimmy in two-player simultaneous action. You can play game A, which has you teaming up against the Black Shadow Warriors, or game B, which lets you fight each other as well as the enemies. Three difficulty levels are available: Practice, which ends after the completion of the first three missions, Warrior, which is like the arcade version of the game, and Supreme Master, which includes a special ninth level in which you must take on the mastermind behind the entire Black Shadow operation.

The players under your control don't carry their own weapons, but they can disarm opponents and brandish their knives, chain whips, grenades, iron pipes, bombs and other weapons for a brief time. In addition to using enemy weapons and performing standard punches and kicks, Billy and Jimmy can pull off a number of special moves, such as a spinning cyclone, a hyper uppercut, a high jump kick and an elbow drop.

The brothers can also grab enemies and either knee them in the head or hurl them across the screen. Billy and Jimmy begin with three lives, with each life containing eight energy units. You will lose an energy unit when you get injured during a fight and when you fall off a building, into water or onto any number of obstacles. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
