DESCRIPTION
Coming ten years after the groundbreaking original, Doom 3 continues id Software's first-person shooter series with a true 3D engine featuring bump-map texturing and enhanced lighting and shadow effects. Players will revisit the setting introduced in 1993's Doom but with a more involved storyline written by sci-fi scribe Matthew Costello (of 7th Guest and The 11th Hour fame).
The result is a more cinematic experience than in games past, with elements of horror interwoven with the action to create a sense of tension. Shadows sometimes appear a split second before enemies attack, creatures materialize in the reflections of mirrors, and monsters can break through walls. Certain classic enemies have also been upgraded, such as the imps, which now stare players down with glaring eyes before pouncing on them. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide

“Jump scares and oOoOoOo monsters popping out behind me for the 50th time after the room goes dark does not count as "terrifying" or even scary at all. Anybody can get someone to jump by surprising them. It doesn't make horror movies scary...”
“Jump scares and oOoOoOo monsters popping out behind me for the 50th time after the room goes dark does not count as "terrifying" or even scary at all. Anybody can get someone to jump by surprising them. It doesn't make horror movies scary and it just doesn't work for games.
While this game is closer to what people would imagine what the real life situation of DOOM would be like, this is certainly not like the predecessors. I'm missing that arcadey, kill-em-all feeling. They could've done alot more with this game, but it seems like they made it this way because they turned it into a movie-based game and rushed it out inorder to put out a certain terrible movie with Dwayne Johnson a.k.a. "The Rock" in it.”

“The game was far too easy, it made the Doom series seem like a joke, I mean you practically had infinite health on co-op as you could keep respawning...”

“Doom 3 breaks away from the classic doom action to a degree, instead of fighting waves of demons it concentrates on more frightening one on one encounters with demons. You DO NOT want to play this game in the dark. You will scream like a little girl”
