DESCRIPTION
Resurrection of Evil is the first expansion pack for 2004's technology-advancing Doom 3. The add-on's single-player campaign casts players as an engineer, sent to investigate a strange beacon signal coming from the now-abandoned industrial base on Mars. While the same style of desperate, one-against-the-world shooter gameplay prevails, many missions are set in more natural, cavernous environments and the new player character has access to different equipment, including the fan-favorite double-barreled shotgun. The expansion also adds more online multiplayer options, including a Capture the Flag game mode and (official) support for up to eight Internet-connected players. Doom 3: Resurrection of Evil was developed by series creator id, with lots of help from Texas neighbor Nerve Software (Return to Castle Wolfenstein: Tides of War). ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide

“Although they copied Half-Life 2's gravity gun (but at the same time took the chainsaw away :'() and added "bullet time" this expansion is not as fun to play as the main game was. The quality of the story (Yes, Doom 3, the main game, has a rather interesting one, if you take the time to look around, read all the mails and listen to all the logs etc. as you make your way deeper into the facility.) is significantly weaker compared to the main game and the ending is not nearly as satisfying. You basically do the same things all over again, activate and repair machines, take some mars walks and of course shoot the evil extra-dimensional beings from hell. (There are no new enemies except for the bosses.)
Conclusion: If you always wanted to catch fireballs 'n rockets and return them to sender (or thrower? ;-)) or if you are a sucker for bullet time packed boss battles and arena fights, this just might be for you!”

“This adds some more gameplay to Doom 3, with a few new weapons and a new campaign. I would recommend it to anyone that enjoyed Doom 3, but don't expect any major changes if you did not care for the first game.”

“Faster, fresher, and more action-packed than Doom 3, with additional goodies like expanded multiplayer and bullet time. The renewed classic Doom feel sacrifices some of the scares that made its predecessor so great.”
