DESCRIPTION
This Namco-developed Donkey Kong game is made to be beat, with a special bongo-style controller that consists of two drum pads and a small microphone. The controller allows gamers to drum along to songs such as Queen's "We Will Rock You," "Rock Lobster" by the B-52's, Devo's "Whip It," and other finger-tapping licensed tunes, as well as a selection of familiar themes from Nintendo games like Super Mario Bros., Pokémon, and The Legend of Zelda. Following scrolling on-screen prompts, akin to those found in Dance Dance Revolution and other rhythm-based games, players must clap their hands or hit the left, right, or both drum heads as directed, all in time to the music. Success is rewarded with unlocked mini-games and new songs. A multiplayer mode allows up to four gamers to compete or cooperate through the same tune. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide

“Precursor to Guitar Hero and Rock Band, Donkey Konga was pretty fun to play amongst friends and family. This game has pretty good songs but the kongas made playing very loud.”

“I haven't played for months... pretty bad ;)”

“I like music games, and this is a nice new idea. But you really need some practice for this. And the biggest minus: unfortunately Nintendo offers a bad song list, just covers versions and their own game music.”

“After many years (and thanks to this site) I played it again. And it's hard to master the first songs after such a long time. But it's great!”

“A great rhythm-game with bongos. There are songs for everyone and in the hardest setting you need a lot of skill. Great concept. Who needs "Rock Band"?”
