DESCRIPTION

Nintendo's Donkey Kong Jungle Beat is the second North American GameCube game designed for use with the Namco-developed DK Bongos controller. As with the original Donkey Konga game, players interact by tapping the bongos' drumheads and clapping into a microphone, instead of punching buttons or pushing joysticks. Aside from this interface, however, Jungle Beat plays more like a traditional side-scrolling platformer, instead of a karaoke-style rhythm sim. The player's taps, claps, and drum rolls cause Nintendo's most famous ape to jump over obstacles, collect bananas and other treats, ride animals with special abilities (à la the Donkey Kong Country games), and fend off unruly enemies. ~ T.J.
