Mr. Do is back in Do! Run Run a game that hearkens back to his original arcade appearance. Players guide Mr. Do around a multi-level playing field loaded with edible pellets, a couple of logs, and numerous monsters. Monsters come in two varieties: slow-moving unicorns and far deadlier ducks, which have a nasty habit of turning into fireballs that fly across the screen — or into Mr. Do — in the blink of an eye. Monsters can be blasted with Mr. Do's magic ball (which is unavailable until he eats enough pellets or fruit), or he can set the logs rolling and crush his adversaries. Mr. Do leaves a "trail" behind him, which can be used to enclose an area of the screen that turns any pellets into fruit, which earn a higher score when eaten, and occasionally yield special items. These items include one of the letters spelling E-X-T-R-A, which will win an extra "life" when spelled out, or a diamond, which gives the player the equivalent of another quarter's worth of game. The "EXTRA" life isn't easily earned, as touching one of the letters unleashes a corresponding monster which must be shot, along with an entourage of blobby critters who chase Mr. Do relentless for about a minute. Mr. Do moves to the next level only by clearing the screen of monsters or pellets/fruit. These later levels pile on more (and faster) monsters. With its colorful graphics, wild new wave-ish cartoon music soundtrack, and addictive gameplay, Do! Run Run is the lost gem of the series of Mr. Do games. ~ Earl Green, All Game Guide
