DESCRIPTION
Dissidia Final Fantasy is a PSP-exclusive fighting game featuring heroes and villains from 20 years worth of Final Fantasy titles. Characters can glide through the air, dash across walls, summon Aeons, and perform variants of "limit breaks" and "overdrives" while pummeling their rivals in an assortment of 3D environments. The fighting system was designed by the creators of the Kingdom Hearts series and features an EX gauge that builds with every successful attack. Once filled, characters can transform into powerful alter egos to unleash new forms of attacks. Each combatant will also learn new techniques and acquire more equipment as they gain experience through battles. Both online and Ad-hoc wireless support are included, with the option to trade items like friend cards, AI characters, and more. A total of 22 characters are available to fight as or against, equally divided among good and evil factions. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“This game is really a fan-service to all Final Fantasy fans. I am not saying its a bad thing, on the contrary, its a great thing. As a fan of Final Fantasy games myself I really enjoyed playing this game. Only bad thing I can say about it is that the game doesn't make you want to repeat it, but that's only my opinion.
After beating the game's main story, beating two more scenarios (Shantotto's and Gabranth's), beating Inward Chaos and getting my main battler the strongest equipment, there's nothing else you can do in the game. Oh, but I did forgot to mention the player-vs-player battles and the ability to make your own machinima videos in the game.
All-in-all, when you add and subtract, this game for me deserves a 4.5/5 stars. But since I can't add extra half star here on GamerDNA, I'll stick with 4/5.”

“Who would have thought that Square-Enix would do an excellent fighting game and probably the best fan service game since... Kingdom Hearts? Smash Brothers? well OK, maybe not the best but still close.
First the game has a lot of content, and I mean a lot really, for a PSP game and for a fighting game. Tons of modes and a storyline that you actually care about, although this is a little tied to the fact that you must like the FF universe and have a lot of character introspection that might or not might be deep, again in depends on how much you like the FF character's personality but in the end the overall story is interesting and with surprises. Even when the story ends the game still gives you more extra chapters to fully exploit the story mode, that plus all the secrets you will want to get to fully build your character.
Yes, the game offers character progression with levels and equip and new abilities that are fully customizable and still an arcade mode where all characters are balanced and can go straight to the actions. Plenty of unlock ables, and I mean plenty. The game offers so many achievement like objectives and extras that if you will like to grind you will be glad for sure, and at the same time the game can be beaten with no problem whatsoever if you don't like the idea of grind.
Graphics are great, music and sound are perfect, presentation and production values very high. The battles are very fast, more akin to action games with fantastic elements like flying and magic.
I've just got 2 problems with the game, the lack of online play and the fact that by giving you so much options to grow up your character the battles might end up being unfair, that is amplified when you have only a limited audience to be play (your local friends) instead of a ranked online match. I should also mention that the camera gets a little bothersome at first but you will get used to very quickly. Still I don't think this should take the 5 stars from this game because everything else is very well done.
Just as a quick note, my reviews never consider 5 stars as a perfect game, but a game that is very well made and fun. I'll recommend this to anyone that loves Final Fantasy. If you don't happen to like FF you may still want to try the demo, maybe the game play will convince you.”
