A primer of sorts for gamers not quite ready for The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past, Disney's Goof Troop is similar to the popular Nintendo game but is not as enjoyable or as complex. Players control Goofy or Max through five stages as they pursue Keelhaul Pete and his evil henchmen who have kidnapped some of the crew of Goofy's ship. To ward off the knife-throwing pirates and other bad guys, players can kick blocks at enemies and pick up and throw barrels, bushes, and other items. There are surprisingly tricky puzzles to solve, such as kicking blocks into special markers and finding shovels, rope guns, and other items to assist in digging up treasure, crossing bridges, and other tasks. The characters are nicely animated, but the graphics aren't up to the standards set by other Disney titles for the Super NES. The game would fare better with goofier voice effects and an improved two-player mode. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
