DESCRIPTION

Disney's Aladdin is a Game Gear adaptation of the Disney movie starring Aladdin, everyone's favorite bandit hero. Aladdin starts the game as a simple thief stealing things in the streets of the city, but discovers that Jafar, the sultan's evil advisor, has plans for taking over the kingdom. Aladdin must find the magical lamp with the genie inside, retrieve it and escape, then defeat Jafar in a one-on-one showdown.

The game faithfully follows the story as laid out in the movie, and offers players a variety of play styles. Certain stages will have players guiding Aladdin on forced run-and-jump sequences as he tries to jump over holes, platforms, and barrels while the screen scrolls automatically. Other stages give players a chance to play more traditional side-scrolling platform levels. Additional levels will have players flying the magic carpet or defeating Jafar in a sword duel.

Aladdin can pick up a variety of items during the course of play. Apples heal half a life unit while bread replenishes an entire life unit. Aladdin can also pick up keys to open doors and a sword to use on Jafar. Rocks can be collected and thrown as weapons, and scarabs function as save points within the level. If Aladdin loses all his life units or falls into a hole, he dies. When players lose all their lives, the game is over. ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide
