DESCRIPTION
NIS America's quirky, demon-themed RPG makes its first appearance on a non-Sony platform in Disgaea DS. Players take on the role of Laharl, Prince of the Netherworld, as he awakes from a two year slumber only to find a number of demons scrambling to take the throne of his recently deceased father. As in all games in the series, the battle in Disgaea DS unfolds in a strategic, turn-based manner, but the DS gives players the added bonuses of viewing the entire battle map in the top screen and controlling the action with either the buttons or the stylus. The single-player campaign offers gamers an extremely deep experience, exemplified by the fact that within the game there are hundreds of different items, and within each item there are 100 randomly generated game levels. Disgaea DS also offers a multiplayer mode in which two gamers can go head-to-head, battling with any of the various characters they capture during the single-player mode. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide

“Not much to say. Completed a couple of stages, got a few laughs out of the Prinny commentary like usual and reïncarnated my female brawler.”

“Disgaea is my second favorite RPG series ever. For people unfamiliar with Disgaea in Disgaea DS you play a one of the Overlords Laharl you main goal is to prove that you are the strongest overlord of all time, but along the way other things come up to extend the stroy. This game offers hundreds of hours of play time from all the side thing you can do. Like doing side missions and trying to get a rare weapon in the Item world or levling up your character to the level cap of 9,999(crazy right). The games really fun and funnyif you love RPG's or are a Disgaea fan then you'll want to buy this game.”

“Here I am with the review of another Disgaea game, this time a DS port of the first (PS2) disgaea game, Hour of Darkness.
+ Gameplay. You've got the basic SRPG mechanics, mix them up with some wacky stuff and make it hardcore. Nice...
Some examples include exploding pinguins, Gods inside your items, judged you'll simply have to "pursuade" if they don't agree with you,...
+ Graphics. I normally don't pay a lot of attention to these but they are real good, actually! It says something that the PS2 was known for it's graphics and this game pulls them off brilliantly...
+ Story. Let's just say there's a reason you find all these fanboys/girld out there, pining away for Etna/Laharl. While never too long, the dialogue is entertaining and witty.
+ Extras. Etna mode, Secret characters, Etna's hidden room in the castle,...
+ It's on the DS. The DS is a handheld/portable gaming console. Figure it out yourselves :D
- No tower fighting D: Lifting and throwing is still implemented but the whole tower doesn't attack anymore.
If you're still not convinced this game is awesome, look at it's commercial: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DTaEf9OMeZY
It's a bit of a dull comercial but it does show guite a lot of the gameplay mechanics and that's always nice :D”

“Astoundingly fun, submersive, humorous strategy game with anime characters and nice dark overtones. All in all this game is an all time fav of mine, definitely a keeper if there ever was one! The main character (Laharl) always adds his own stuck -up, yet funny comments just make this piece of gaming candy ever so much sweeter and enjoyable to all (lol@ the super zombie....).”

“Played a good session of training. Found the perfect spot and went to town leveling everyone up about 50 or so levels! About 2/3rds through the game and already on par level-wise with the final boss!”

“After playing this game for a few hours, I soon became addicted. Very fun with features that make it stand out from its peer turn-based tacticals. The ability to create other characters at will, to reincarnate characters with enhanced skills just kept me playing until just "one more reincarnation". I most definitely give this the Bobtmonkey seal of approval lol ^^ (new at reviews, judge me with mercy)”

“Tactical RPG to the extreme. If you're looking for a challenge, this game's multiple classes, level 9999 cap, and insane combos are very satisfying. Throw in a decent storyline and some anime-esque characters, and you have a pretty solid game.”
