DESCRIPTION
Nippon Ichi's quirky tactical RPG series returns with an enhanced battle system and an estimated 100-plus hours of strategy gaming. Disgaea 2 features an isometric viewpoint and colorful sprite-based characters as players take turns moving their units across various battlefields in the world of Veldime. Proper positioning is important for characters to execute various combo attacks or to take advantage of special ability-enhancing status boosts.
After each battle, acquired items, weapons, and armor can be traded for more powerful equipment from local shops and vendors. New to the series is a "dark court" system that judges the party's actions on the battlefield, with rewards given to those who go out of their way to be evil. The storyline finds protagonist Adell trying to reverse a magical curse that has transformed his friends into demons. After a spell goes awry, Adell finds himself paired with the young daughter of the demon lord he must vanquish. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“One of my all-time favourite games and one I've spent entirely too much time on :D It's kinda weird but I feel like whatever I'd say it'll probably do this game injustice.
+ Humour. The dialogue, abilities, units, mechanics,... I don't think it's actually possible to play this game without smiling! One of my favourite moments (and pretty early in the game/story so no spoilers :D) is when you fight the Prinnies in their victory formation... where they've lined up as bowling pegs with one of them functioning as the ball xD
Might not sound so fun untill you know Prinnies are pinguins that explode when thrown and... well, when you've played the game. Poor Prinnies, why dost thou suffer so much? That's right... Etna...
+ Gameplay mechanics. SRPG with recruitable and reïncarnating felons featuring stuff like battle towers (Don't think it has a real name, I'm referring to the stacks of characters if you form a "tower" of allies), terrain-based puzzlin' with several possible effects, item worlds, level cap of 9999...
+ Difficulty. While the regular storyline isn't too hard to finish (with some grinding), some of the extra battles are pretty good at bringing you back down to earth... Not for nothing called one of the most hardcore games either.
+ Screwin' yourself. We all know how important it is to reïncarnate your main damage dealer to make him even better but why did we do it just before this boss battle again? Oh cool, a secret boss where *small spoiler ahead* I fight the town people as well. Oops, killed the healer... Gone forever now... I'm so sccrewed :/ *end minor spoiler*. Perhaps more experienced players have ways around this but I don't and I don't mind :D (mostly due to humour values...)
+ Mentor system. Not only can the system be used to seriously power a char up statswise, it'll also enable your characters to learn skills they otherwise wouldn't have access to. Some of my favourite examples: Healing spells for my tank (not really tankish... he just dodged a lot but did little damage xD) and giving my main damage dealer some buff spells.
- So time consuming... xD”

“An ingenious SRPG that invites you to see just how much you can abuse its mechanics to conquer the post-game content. The actual plot was pretty meh, but the 200(!) hours I wound up sinking into the game attest to just how much stuff to do and the fact that it stays fun after sane people have gone home. If you even think you might like a strategy-RPG, you need to play this.”

“Have advanced all the way to the second to last battle. Unfortunately, my current party is pretty much focused on one character, a level 99 wraith, and this battle needs more than one character to...”

“30+ hours in, and still in chapter one. Got side tracked by seeing if rank 1 (BB Gun, Toy Bow, &c) items can be made decent. Have now leveled the weapons for five of my ten characters to level...”

“The 2nd was better then the 3rd granted but i still prefer the 1st Disgaea. This 1 had the wit, the charm, but it lacked the story and heart of the Disgaea series. Another must for Disgaea fans only.”

“After stepping away from this game for a year because I thought the memory card containing my uber save got corrupted, I decided to give it one more shot, since i was so close to finishing the game....”
