DESCRIPTION
Not often does a clone improve on the original so much as to put it into a whole new world of its own clones, but Descent did just that. Although Descent is a first person shooter, it has a full 360 degree range of motions, allowing for movement up and down as you would expect inside of a ship, instead of the linear movement of a soldier walking.
Containing 30 levels, full LAN support for up to 8 players, and numerous level editors, Descent certainly has plenty of replay value. This coupled with its stunning graphics, great musical score, and revolutionary 360 degree movement, made Descent an instant classic in 1995. ~ Mark Garafalo, All Game Guide

“Take the game engine from Doom, play in space in a twisty, 3-dimensional maze with no gravity, substitute insane robots for the demons and add the additional objectives of rescuing hostages and escaping the maze before it explodes, and you have Descent. Each level is a mining colony in a small planet or moon somewhere in the Solar system. Due to your ability to fly around sideways and upside down without even realizing you're doing it, these mazes are a lot easier to get lost in than in most games. You'll also need some really good piloting skills for fighting those insane robots in tight corridors.”

“The FPS that's a space ship shooter, and the space ship shooter that's horribly claustrophobic. You can't deny its fun, I will repeat what I've said before, it makes me dizzy and happy at the same time, like alchohol with lasers!”

“Combined dungeon crawling and space-/flightship combat for the 1st time (?). I kept loosing orientation and continuously lost track of where I was and thus quickly uninstalled it.”

“Wasted many an hour on this game and it never got old. Nothing like trying to get to the exit after blowing the place up.”
