DESCRIPTION
The world was once consumed in an epic war between Light and Darkness. Ahriman, the Wizard of Darkness, used his powers to bring great destruction and misery to the people of the world. But a young man by the name of Jamseed came along who would change history. Using three rings of power given to him by the Wizard of Light, Jamseed fought Ahriman to a standstill and managed to seal him and his powers away.
But Ahriman still plotted. He sent his minion, the Snake King Zahhark, to attack the kingdom of Shanadar that Jamseed had recently founded. During the battle the great hero was killed, and the world was plunged into 1000 years of chaos. After that period another great hero by the name of Fallidoon arose and slew Zahhark, finally bringing peace to the world. After a great period of peace, another evil rose up, and once again Shanadar must fight.
Defenders of Oasis is an overhead view, turn-based role-playing game. You assume the role of the prince of Shanadar, and must lead the prince and his party through a series of quests to save the world. Players can advance their characters by defeating monsters and earning experience points.
After a certain amount of experience is attained, characters raise one level and gain additional points in their basic attributes. Players can also improve the effectiveness of their characters by purchasing weapons, armor, and items at shops in towns.
During combat, characters and monsters are assigned turns depending on their speed. Faster characters and monsters will get to attack first, and may get to attack more frequently than slower characters depending on the length of the battle. If all characters should die in the course of a battle, the game is over and players must revert to the saved game. ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide
