This game... was AWESOME! This game is a perfect example of what I've always said about video games, and all the stupid little children on XBOX LIVE isn't important at all. Well, now I have proof that they are wrong, like they usually are. (always knew it, but children can never accept the fact they are wrong about anything. Plus don't get me wrong, I love kids, but I hate little brats on XBOX LIVE. Seriously people don't buy your kid online if he's under the age of 13.) But first, I have to be a downer and point out the negatives, because that's how I roll.

NEGATIVES

Graphics: First of all, the graphics are just really dang sad for an Xbox360 game. I sometimes felt like I was looking at the trees in Zelda Ocarina of Time, which was for the Nintendo 64. Plus the game was released in this year, 2010.

Enemies:Also, there's a lack of variety of enemies. While they generally are spooky, the only time you come across a new enemy is when you fight a boss, or one other little monster they added. Reminded me of the chick from that movie 'The Grudge'.

Sound:The sounds in stereo are also horrid, making you sometimes question if you've gone deaf in one ear for a moment. You'll be listening to characters talk when all the sudden the left speaker stops making their voice, or the other speaker just randomly grows louder. I honestly kept cleaning my ears with q-tips to make sure that I could hear normally.

Character Models: It's just sad. Their voices don't sync up with their characters mouth movement, and sometimes the expressions the characters make are just really weird. Like when the main character smiles sometimes, I thought he was the serial killer at times. (No he's not, luckily the game doesn't make this cheap story cop out.) Sometimes the characters would look like clay figures.

Not Bad, But Not Great

Voice acting: This is a bit on par. Some characters voice their parts real well, others don't.

Controls: I hate driving, but the combat is similar to Resident Evil 5. Hold right trigger, press A to shoot, that kinda stuff.

Quick time events: Never been a fan, but they don't over do it. Except when you need to run away in certain cut scenes. Otherwise the timing and use of them makes sense.

So now your asking me by now, "why do you love it so much when there is so many flaws to this game." Because the developers knew what makes a game a work of art.

POSITIVES: Good.. Heck One of the Best!

No glitches: I never came across a single bug or glitch. None at all. Nothing floating in the air, or your character stuck in a door, the game always played perfectly.

Story: As I've said to friends over and over again, story and character development is what makes the player interested in a video game. Not graphics. Keep in mind this is a survival horror game (sorta, more like a detective game), so of course things get weird the moment you start playing the game. Love the fact your character crashes his car and he wonders why. "Well, you were typing on your laptop, smoking, drinking coffee, texting, and eating all at the same time while you were driving!!" I think somebody wanted to give a message to the bad drivers out here in this world a message. Don't drive safe, or you end up in hell.
Anyways, as the story continues things always get more interesting, and every time you've drawn a conclusion that seems logical and in fact may be confirmed in the game, it's never the end. There is always something more. Every time I thought the game was about to end another plot twist (and no, these are those stupid kind of plot twists with 'has a twin sister' or something) that just makes you keep asking yourself "So what the hell is going on then?" But in a good way. If you ever watched the first Saw, and when it reached the end of the movie you thought "Oh my gosh, no way! No way! Holy crap!" Remember that thrill and sudden realization? You'll get that a lot in this game. It's pretty much the X-Files... except for fun and way cooler. You also grow to care about some of the characters, another good sign of storytelling.

CONCLUSION

I have not played a story driven game that was interesting for so long. Until now. Getting sick of the Gears of War and COD games of just run and gun, stuff blowing up, this was a breath of fresh air. Those other games always ended the same way, you win, congrats. But here, it's been a long time since I've felt as accomplished playing a game as this one. When it's finally over, you just sit back on the couch and reflect on all that has happened. Rarely do games do that these days. But despite the graphics, character models, sound problems, and lack of enemy variety, I loved this game. In my opinion, this game is a diamond. Yes, it's covered in muck and grime, but as soon as you wash that away with a good scrubbing, it's clear you found something of great value.
