DESCRIPTION

Darkness Within is a graphic adventure inspired by the writings of H.P. Lovecraft. Players are cast in the role of a police detective named Howard E. Loreid, who is trying to solve the murder of an affluent man believed to have dabbled in the occult. The chief suspect is private investigator Loath Nolder, who himself was rumored to be involved in the occult after going on a mysterious sabbatical for five years. The world is explored through Loreid's eyes, as he struggles to maintain control of his sanity while delving into the dark happenings surrounding the case. Viewed from a first-person perspective, Darkness Within features pre-rendered environments with 360° panoramic displays. Three difficulty levels offer varying levels of hints as players carefully examine journals, letters, photographs, and other items to uncover clues. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide
