An offshoot of side-scrollers Darius and Darius II for the arcades, Darius Twin was the first space shooter for the Super NES to sport two-player simultaneous action. Gameplay is typical for the genre, with players grabbing power-ups, avoiding enemies, and firing lasers at everything that moves. However, there's no hard difficulty level, bosses move in simple patterns, and enemies don't fire as frenetically as they should, making the challenges less strenuous than in most other games of its type (such as Gaiares or Thunder Force III). As with the other games in the series, enemies are modeled after various species of otherworldly fish. The game looks and sounds a lot like Darius II, but it's a bit short, weighing in at 12 zones spread over seven levels with 24 possible paths. Compare this to Darius II, which has 28 zones spread over seven levels with 64 possible paths. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
