DESCRIPTION
Loosely based on The Divine Comedy's first act, Dante's Inferno is a third-person action game starring Dante Alighieri: an Italian mercenary who journeys to hell itself to retrieve the love of his life, Beatrice. As he ventures into hell's nine circles, from limbo to treachery, Dante will engage demons and other ghastly creatures looking to end his heroic quest in gruesome fashion. To survive, Dante wields a massive scythe made of bone, Death's scythe, which has the ability to harvest souls from the damned. Dante can also channel holy powers from a cross bequeathed to him by Beatrice, and even tame some of the dark creatures he encounters during his dangerous descent. Dante will soon discover that he must atone for his past sins while preparing for his ultimate confrontation with fallen angel Lucifer. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“I made a grave mistake. Shortly after my rant about Dante's Inferno I went and checked Sukwendo's PSN account. (My official trophy hunting rival, friend in real life, and member to this site.) He...”

“*edit* I have posted a comment stating I was wrong in my assumptions about required DLC for this game but will keep my original post here anyways. I have put the game back to three stars because even though it is a terrible game for all the reasons I've listed I still had enough fun with the game to beat it three times without complaining, which means it is still fun enough to play despite how much it tries to be God of War. *end edit*
Dante's Inferno! A game that infuriates me now! Why?
1) DLC based achievements that require you to spend 20 dollars for 100 percent completion. DLC is a choice to pursue a game you like further! Not mandatory for achievement hunters such as I! Castlevania: Lords of Shadow! I tip my hat to your achievement list and DLC option.
2) Dante's Inferno is a flat out rip off riding the coat tails of God of War. Not only does it rip it off entirely but it leaves you with an experience that personally left me with a bad taste in my mouth.
3) Graphically this game seems like it was made for PS2... Seriously! PS2 can handle this garbage without any lag or load times! Yet it seems to be next-gen...
4) Horrible jumping mechanics, terrible platforming, anti-climactic boss fights, ridiculously easy game play, and brainless puzzles.
I initially rated this game three stars when I added it to my list. The experience left me so bitter that I'm moving it to 2! It's a semi-fun and very short waste of time that is entirely derivative of God of War but doesn't even splurge on working towards making it look nice. If you can get your hands on it for free like I did then play it.”

“So I got pretty much every trophy I can in the game, there's only some minor mopping up another run through will easily solve... I however have some very big beef with this game now though! There...”

“So I just started this game and I feel like I'm destroying it. It may be my God of War skills coming out, or this game is truly a really easy piece of garbage that looks like a PS2 game on a PS3. I...”

“I don't even own a PS3 haha, but I had to add the PS3 version of Dante's Inferno because the Xbox 360 version doesn't exist and it wouldn't let me create the page. Regardless though, I have to say, this game was really freakin' awesome. Believe it or not, I like couldn't even play this game past the Casual difficulty (which is the lowest). Needless to go on, it was pretty challenging. I used a guide for a majority of the game because I was trying to get as many achievements as I could and beat the game, as I had limited time because I had rented it. The graphics are really good in the cinematics and pretty good in the gameplay as well. I have to say though, the game was disturbing on many levels, such as having to kill like mutilated babies with machetes for arms. The gore wasn't too bad, definintely not like Gears of War or anything. The begininng of the game up through the 2nd level of Hell contains a good bit of nudity and the end of the game has a little, just a little warning in case you're offended by that or to eliminate any need for you to play it in front of your parents and get questioned about whether it's Dante's Inferno or Dante's Porno as my mom had stated. Hahaha”
