DESCRIPTION
The Nintendo 64's first racing title is a conversion of 1994's coin-op game by Midway Games. As in the quarter-munching original, the object is to travel across the continental U.S. in a series of 14 point-to-point races. Two play modes include "Single Race" and "Cruise the USA." The former offers a choice of ten individual courses, while the latter includes the entire cross-country trip. Four non-licensed sports cars and three bonus vehicles are available to drive. As you travel from California's Golden Gate Park to Washington, D.C., you'll view such landmarks as Mount Rushmore, the Grand Canyon, and the White House. Eight computer-controlled drivers are your primary competition in each race, as you carefully weave through traffic-filled highways spanning multiple lanes. Options consist of five difficulty settings, two transmission types, multiple controller configurations, and customizable traffic. Head-to-head racing is also available via split-screen display. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

Cruis'n USA, in my views is a game that is soooo bad it is good. Now others may disagree. To them, it may be so bad it is horrible.
When playing it, you are suppose to have fun. Laugh at the camp.
Humourous things:
* Every obstacle is cardboard. That large tree? Flattens when you hit it. That Street Lamp? Flattens when you hit it. It can get funny after a while
* The campy things that get screamed when you hit another car. Sometimes it is worth crashing just to hear those screams.
* You can take out a train... and win.
* The cops do not seem to care about you, and the seven other racers endangering the lives of many of the people on the road.
I mean, yes, the Pop In is so horrid, it kind of earned a top place in hatred of N64 games because of this.
That just means you need to react a lot quicker.
I remember when I was in my teens. I would play this game, because I could eat or drink with my other hand. I would have analog up/down shift my gears, analog left/right to steer, and Z for gas. Anything else was not important to the game play. It is an awesome memory to have a game, that I could eat an entire pizza and play without any major issues.
The Red Woods and Chicago tend to be the levels that everybody hates. Generally, once you are familiar with how they work and operate--there is no issue winning them.
My favourite level has always been Alapalacia.
Though, what pisses me off, is in neither the GameCube Control, nor the Classic Control, can you hit C-Up, C-Right, and C-Down simultaneousness to unlock the Jeep, School Bus and Police Car.
Anyways, this game also featured an upgrade system. Where your vehicle would have its engine upgraded (with its colour to point out how much) when you beat difficulties 1, 3 and 5.
I remember when I was about seventeen, I just stayed up a few nights, just to max out all my cars.
*sigh*
This is case, where the game was soooo bad.... I just started enjoying it for its camp value. Typically laughing and making fun of it as I go along.”
