DESCRIPTION
Crimson Gem Saga is a straightforward role-playing game, designed to offer players hand-drawn visuals, a classic swords-and-sorcery storyline, and traditional turn-based battles. Gamers take on the role of Killian von Rohcoff, a perennial also-ran who gets beaten for the top spot in his graduating class, has his wallet stolen during a job interview, and lives by the motto "Sometimes life doesn't go the way you plan it." Things soon get far more complicated for him though, and he heads off on an epic quest seemingly caused by an ancient artifact known as the Wicked Stone.
Ambushes play a critical role in the battle system, as Killian and his party can use sneak attacks to take down stronger enemies. But players must also tread carefully, because being ambushed by monsters can cause serious casualties. Gamers can also use special combination attacks, which make use of the special skills of each party member and open up the possibility of devastating "Critical Combos." Previously released in other parts of the world as "Garnet Chronicle," Crimson Gem Saga features more than 1,000 lines of voiced dialogue recorded exclusively for North America. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide
