DESCRIPTION
The sequel to Creatures, Creatures 2 is its predecessor and more. The general idea of the simulation is the same, but there are quite a few differences.
The main differences between Creatures and Creatures 2 are the environment (MUCH larger, more diverse, and colorful), major enhancement of artificial life technology, more skin colors for Norns, re-written applets, weather and seasons, all new objects, a genetic splicer, and an accurate physics model.
Basically, Creatures 2 immerses you in the world of Albia where you are in control of creating your own teeming population of Norns (which look kind of like Yoda, a gremlin, and an Ewok thrown together).
Creatures 2 is more than a basic simulation. Each creature you hatch has it's own digital DNA, organs, chemicals, and brain. You'll teach your Norn words, phrases, and verbs. You are able to control their actions by using this knowledge while monitoring their biological progress and adding agents to keep them healthy.
As well, your Norn(s) will learn to operate elevators, machinery, and will teach their offspring all you've taught them. Your Norns will breed and create children of their own, who will be charged with the responsibility of continuing the proud family line and exploring the wilderness of Albia.
This will be no cakewalk, however. Your Norns must contend with the evil disease-infested (and horribly violent . . . or are they?) Grendels, the weather, and other unkind life forms.
Advanced life-development and the ability to create, condition, and train your own small entities is available in Creatures 2. ~ Chris Couper, All Game Guide

“Albia is home to the Norns (and the Ettins and Grendels, which you can find while exploring). Your goals is to hatch Norns from their eggs, teach them, and take care of them while helping them explore their world. You can also breed your Norns to strengthen their gene pool or even mix in some Ettin/Grendel genetics, which often results in strange-looking hybrids.
This is a nice game to play if you want to relax and explore for a bit, as long as your creatures aren't sick or constantly trying to "suicide" by walking into the ocean/some other dangerous place X|. If a particular one is causing problems, you can always export him/her. So no worries ;).”
