For many years, The Crystal Palace was a thriving, prosperous, peaceful kingdom. It was kept this way by a gentle ruler named Bretor, who encouraged the people under his care to be honest and fair. Many people flocked to this great land seeking citizenship. During this time the King's wife, Queen Zyla, gave birth to a son, Prince Farron.
One day Zaras, an evil War Spirit of the 20th Century, simulated an army of evil guardians and took over The Crystal Palace, killing the King and Queen, and sending the rest of the people to live amongst the stars. Well, most of the rest of the people. Prince Farron was transformed into a six-month-old baby and Zapolis, the palace and guardian keeper, was turned into a dog. The palace became an evil lair of mazes and chambers filled with all kinds of nasty creatures from Zaras' imagination.
Upon Farron's 15th birthday, he and Zap the dog set out to reclaim the formerly great land as their own and restore the peace and unity once felt by the people before the Conquest of the Crystal Palace. You must guide our heroes through five stages of medieval mayhem: Mount Crystal, Realm of the Guardian, Lair of the Hungry Ghosts, Gateway of Flame and Realm of Zaras; The Crystal Palace. Each stage is guarded by a boss (there are two bosses in the last level).
You begin the game with a power crystal and a sword. You can call on Zap at any time (as long as he has life in his meter) and use weaponry, such as a dog whistle and a moon mirror. After you have attacked and killed an enemy, you can pick up a coin for use in Kim's shop. Here you can purchase herbs, potions, Zap Chow, a fire scroll, jumping shoes, a boomerang annihilator, and other special weapons. As you run, jump and battle your way through the game, these items will prove useful in a variety of ways. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
