DESCRIPTION
In the Congo Bongo the user assumes the role of an intrepid explorer who is navigating the jungles of the Congo. The player begins each level at the bottom of a hill or other structure that must be surmounted. By navigating platforms and bridges and other obstacles the player must reach the pinnacle of each structure to complete the level. Each level is a single screen in size.
Many obstacles inhibit the progress of the character. These include various creatures that roam amongst the platforms as well as a gorilla that resides at the top of each level and dumps coconuts down upon the player. The character has the ability to jump, and this is the manner in which one dodges demise due to coconut.
Progress through the game is either by keyboard or joystick. The standard rules of video game motion apply, up moves the player up, down moves down, etc. The trigger is used to jump.
The player is given three lives with which to complete the game. The number of lives is listed at the top of the screen as well current score and high score. There is an option for either one or two players to play. If the 2-player mode is selected, the players alternate turns. ~ Ryan Glover, All Game Guide
