DESCRIPTION
Set in the year 2011, Conflict Zone is a real-time strategy title that chronicles the escalating conflict between the International Corps for Peace (ICP) and GHOST, an extreme right-wing coalition. New to the genre is each side's reliance upon the media in order to fund its war effort. Your skirmishes are documented by the media and failing to live up to your credo will see your popularity decline, which impacts the resources you have available. Being the proverbial "good guys," the ICP are expected to uphold righteous morals by protecting innocents, liberating cities, and other such honorable deeds in order to maintain their war effort. GHOST on the other hand are able to use propaganda and misinformation to gain support and recruit civilians.
Spanning 18 different missions, the Campaign mode allows players to guide the side of their choosing through the ensuing conflict, with the ultimate aim of achieving their nefarious (or righteous) goals. A wide selection of structures and units, patterned after real-world weapons of mass destruction, are available to use, however only if your popularity is high enough will you be given access to better technology and more powerful units. To aid your continual drive for public support, you can create cameramen to film the battlefield action. Further into the game you'll be able to enlist the aid of up to four commanders, each of whom possesses a unique ability. Commanders can be assigned resources and will in turn oversee various facets of your war machine, freeing you up from the lesser micro-management duties to keep an eye on the bigger picture.
The game's 3D camera can be rotated or zoomed in and out in order to obtain the best view of the action possible. Away from the Campaign mode, players can select from Skirmish and Replay modes. The former provides a handful of customization options, allowing players to tailor-make a small-scale conflict to their liking. Using the Replay mode, players can relive any of the missions they've already completed in the Campaign mode. ~ Gavin Frankle, All Game Guide
