DESCRIPTION
Prepare for the World War II experience of a lifetime as you will be thrown back into the infamous Battle of the Bulge! It is a battle of grave importance to both the Axis and Allied powers so every casualty and victory will be precious. This very battle will in turn decide the outcome of the war for either side. All this is at stake and more in Close Combat: Battle of the Bulge for Windows 95 and Windows 98.
Based on the earlier games in the Close Combat series, you will be navigating a pivotal moment for one side of the war! Your decisions will be based on the greater good of your side and your current resources. Launch air attacks, sabotage operations and put up hardened defenses to stop the enemy offensive, it's all in there. You'll even run into traitors and mutiny during the long haul so be ready for anything.
In a change from the previous Close Combat titles, the campaign system features a list of options and maneuvers for you to execute. Multiple parties and battle groups can be strategically placed on the large battle map in order for a pincer or sneak attack. In turn, this will cause certain units and divisions to wreak havoc all over the map at different locations! Although, don't treat your men too harshly as their sanity and morale is in jeopardy if they don't feel right. This will definitely effect how they react and perform in the battle field.
A multitude of units is at your disposal and command as well. Hardened tanks, stealth infantry and large artillery cannons will be just some of what you can unleash on the enemy. However, you must always keep reserves and be aware of the supply consequences for your choices. If you overcompensate in some battles, it could effect you in the long run with food shortages or lack of soldiers.
If your itching to have a little human competition, how about going online and finding a worthy advisory to pummel on? You can have this 2-player melee on MODEM, IPX, SERIAL connection or the Internet. If you think you've got the brains to match wits with a true war general in the most important battle of World War II, then think again! ~ Glenn Wigmore, All Game Guide
