As the title suggests, your job is to create, construct and maintain an entire civilization from the stone age to the space age. You have control over all aspects of your civilization, from economic factors to military growth and scientific research. You can even build wonders of the world like the Great Wall of China and the Pyramids.

Depending on your goals, there are two opportunities for victory in Civilization II. You can attempt to conquer the world through military force, or be the first civilization to achieve space travel. Either way, many obstacles stand on your path to victory. Rival civilizations will threaten you, and other problems such as pollution and overcrowding will endanger your creation.
