DESCRIPTION
The first mech shooter on Xbox 360, Chrome Hounds involves futuristic combat in a world dominated by armored behemoths known as Hounds. Players assume control of a Hound unit as one of five squad member types or as a tactics commander, with the latter responsible for issuing verbal orders to teammates on Xbox Live. Each Hound unit offers varying degrees of movement, firepower, and abilities, with players able to customize their walking weapon of mass destruction with millions of individual parts, accessories, weapons, and skins.
Chrome Hounds takes place from a choice of first- or third-person views on 115 maps of war-ravaged, bombed out areas. In addition to the tactics commander, squad roles include scout, soldier, sniper, defender, and heavy gunner, allowing team members to specialize in specific areas based on their preferred play styles. Online support for up to 12 simultaneous combatants is included for both cooperative and competitive campaigns. Veteran developer From Software, best known for its Armored Core series on PlayStation and PlayStation 2, lends its expertise in the genre to this original property. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“The worst thing I find about games if trying to find how to play my style. There are the basic style of Tank, support, Stealth and power attacker but I use a mix of them when I play. I try and take...”

“really good Mech combat. The mech customization "garage" feature is simply off the chain cool. You take parts you earn on missions and recombine them in endless variety with almost limitless orientations / arrangements. A myriad of guns, shields, generators, cockpits, chassey designs, augmentations cards and top it all off with a customized paint job and decals. Then go blow the crap out of your opponents in the field. Now the bad news, I hear multiplayer support is being cut as of Jan 2009 so it's likely to be limited to campaign only after that. ”

“The degree you can spec out your mech creates an endless amount of work that you can put into the mech. It's a shame they no longer update this or gave a hint of Chrome Hounds 2 coming out soon, it'd be on my immediate buy list.”

I also love dual wield: in NWN2 my favorite character was a dual shortsword rogue who would outdamage any other combatant. Even without sneak attack, he had many sorts of extra damage on his weapons, so he would plow easily through almost any enemy. And with sneak attack (improved invisibility FTW), it's lolwut? OMGWTFBBQ! Arghhh!
Well, ok, he wouldn't outdamage the average sorceror, but he compensated with the ability to stay alive through almost anything.”
