DESCRIPTION

Castlevania III: Dracula's Curse serves as a prequel to the previous two games in the series. You control Simon's ancestor, Trevor Belmont, and quest to put an end to Count Dracula's evil ways. Trevor is not alone in his quest, though. Along the way, he meets a thief named Grant, a sorceress named Sypha Belnades, and Dracula's good-natured son Alucard.

Trevor is very effective with his whip, but the wall-crawling skills of Grant, the spells of Sypha, and the bat-morphing abilities of Alucard all come in very handy, though Trevor can only be accompanied by one at a time.

After the player has played through all 15 levels and defeated Dracula, one of four endings can be seen, depending on Trevor's companion. ~ Christopher Michael Baker, All Game Guide

I know how you feel. In September, my husband and I will be having our 12th anniversary. We're much the same as you two. Both big gamers (tabletop/PC/console) and it's one of the things that we love to do together.

“Well my kids are 4, 2, and 4 months.... :) So they aren't really gaming yet... although my 4 year old is good at those plug-in-tv Dora joystick games and such... probably get a Wii this christmas for the fam.

My wife was into Jewel Quest on the Xbox 360 for awhile... And she played lots of Super Puzzle Fighter on the PS2... and she wants to get a Wii for Wii Fit... so maybe I can turn her into a gamer yet! ”

“not consquences, if you do all of the Ashvale sidequests, they transform the place for you into what it looks like after the conclusion of the quest line. So the whole Ashvale area will be REDONE to suit the quests conclusions need”

“@Mishy I'm pretty agreed with you there mishy...changing the entire game while it might seem fun just seems like way too much. The new races are kind of dumb as well...there's no new classes and sorry but the whole deathknight business was straight up stupid I really hope they aren't planning on making more "god classes". It *could*have been done correctly but they basically just made an overpowered class then nerfed it in some strange ways.

I personally would have loved the idea of some sort of "God-class only arena" and then they just start making some god classes that are hybrids with some interesting new skills and make it so all the regular classes are separate from them as far as PvP and maybe the raids/instances. Of course that would divide population and whatnot but I'm sure they could manage.”

I'd start with the original (NES) (or Super Castlevania IV, which is basically a remake of the first one), then move to Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles (PSP) and then on to the magnum opus, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. That's a short tour through Castlevania. There are many others (including three excellent games on the DS: Dawn of Sorrow, Portrait of Ruin and Order of Ecclesia) but you've got to start somewhere. A word of warning: the older ones can be a touch on the difficult side.”

“I never played any of the Castlevania games. :( Well, I played a demo on my Xbox 360, but I don't even remember which one it was. (You start playing the last few seconds of the final boss fight of the previous game before you start the game proper.)

I did download some music from OverClocked ReMix that I listen to every now and again.

I played the tiniest of bits of Super Metroid as well, so can't really say a lot about that either, but apparently those game(type)s are similar enough to be grouped into the Metroidvania genre (I discovered maybe two weeks ago), which includes Cave Story, a game I do like. :) It's free on PC, so try it!

“That demo was Symphony of the Night, my favorite Castlevania. I've lost track of how many times I've beaten that game. The first part (contained in the demo) was the finale from Castlevania: Dracula X (Only recently released in the US, not certain about a European release). SoN took a lot of design cues from Super Metroid (one of the best games for the SNES), and was thus dubbed "Metroidvania", a style continued in both GBA entries and the DS games. Try any of them, you can't really go wrong. Although the difficulty in Order of Ecclesia is definitely a lot higher than the previous games, and is quite similar to Castlevania II:Simon's Quest (NES) in that regard.”
