DESCRIPTION
Seeing Capcom's success with the 2D side-scrolling combat game Final Fight, SNK decided to capitalize by bringing out a similar game. Burning Fight is SNK's attempt to create a Final Fight clone for the Neo Geo. And aside from the similar names there are other uncanny differences that show the link.
Players have a selection of three characters to choose from, ranging from the fast and weak to the strong and slow. Up to two players can simultaneously romp and stomp their way through a series of stages beating up basically anyone they meet. Players can also bash up anything that's not nailed down to the ground, and even some things that are. Broken signs and phone booths leave behind items like jewelry and gold, which players can pick up for more points. Occasionally they leave behind hamburgers and roasts instead, those can be eaten for quick health boosts.
When faced with bad guys characters can beat them with regular attacks, or try to grab them for throws. Alternatively each playable character has a unique special attack; if it successfully connects the attack does a lot of damage to bad guys but also drains the character of some health as well.
Scattered throughout the stages are doors marked with a big IN sign. Players can duck into these doors for a quick mini game. Each room has a different setup of objects that must be obliterated within a given amount of time, as well as one or more bad guys who will try and stop the object obliteration from being timely. If players are successful in breaking everything within the time limit and collecting the prizes that drop they get a bonus in points. ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide
