At first glance, Boulders and Bombs is a tunneling game reminiscent of Dig Dug, but digging in the ground is about the only real similarity. Players control a spelunker equipped with bombs and an automatic shovel, and the object is to make it across a rock-infested screen while avoiding nuclear rods dropped from above by a flock of birds. Dropping bombs is harder than it should be, and the game gets redundant after a few rounds of play. Clear, colorful graphics, a novel concept, and a multi-player mode where the opponents control the birds aren't enough to save the game from mediocrity. ~ Brett Alan Weiss, All Game Guide
