Ask any two-year old with a set of building blocks, or any sixty-two year old with a pair of bowling shoes: It's hard to beat the simple enjoyment of "setting 'em up and knocking 'em down." Boom Blox is a game that plays on that simple enjoyment, designed to be family-friendly and easy for nearly anyone to pick up and play. The game's main mode challenges players to toss onscreen objects at structures built with blocks, by performing a throwing motion with the Wii Remote. The object is to knock the structures down completely. Some blocks have special properties, such as being sticky or explosive, that can add to the challenge or be used to the player's advantage. There are options for single-player progression, multiplayer competitions, and also hundreds of puzzles and other mini-games that make use of the game's physics engine. The development of the game that would become Boom Blox was first announced at the 2007 E3 game industry convention, as one of two games (then known only as "LMNO" and "PRQS") which would result from a collaboration between publisher Electronic Arts and film director Steven Spielberg. ~ T.J.
