DESCRIPTION

Hudson's explosion-loving mascot comes to PlayStation Network with an emphasis on character customization and a bevy of multiplayer modes in Bomberman Ultra. Instead of simple, color-based characters, players can now choose their bombers' body style and dress them in more than 150,000 wardrobe combinations. Gamers can then take their pirate astronauts and disco ninjas through 14 single-player levels that are defined by distinguishing characteristics such as trap doors or tornados. Bomberman Ultra features classic multiplayer battles, with local matches capable of handling seven different players and online matches accommodating up to eight. Other multiplayer options include "Zombie" and "Paint" modes, where gamers set off explosions to "paint" the ground tiles in a sort of Othello mechanic, and "Friendly Fire", "Frag," and "Bombing Run" modes all remove various restrictions for more wide open battles. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide

“An average game, pretty much what you'd expect from a Bomberman game. This incarnation is great when some die-hard fans are over, though. Blasting people away takes some time to get old, oddly.”
