DESCRIPTION
As part of the elite United Nations Blue Lightning air squadron, equipped with the latest air superiority fighter technology, composed of the finest fighter pilots from around the world, you are sent to deal with the most dangerous threats to world peace. One such threat comes in the form of General Drakov, the world's foremost military strategist. Through devious manipulations, he's managed to amass a personal army, and intends to take over the world. Flying the sophisticated fighter planes available to you, you must stop Drakov at all costs.
Blue Lightning is a flight combat game in the tradition of Sega's After Burner. The graphics are in 2D, but with the camera positioned behind the plane, players get a sense of 3D. You start with three planes and can earn more by successfully completing missions. The game is over when you lose them all. Each plane has different handling characteristics, and can fire guns or missiles. Guns are your default weapon, but you can fire missiles once you lock-on to enemy units. Other weapons include napalm and cluster bombs. You can also engage your plane's afterburners to speed up and catch retreating enemy units. Engage Drakov's forces around the world, and complete mission objectives, ranging from standard search-and-destroy missions to escort and protect stints. ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide
