DESCRIPTION
Blockout is a puzzle game involving blocks and pits where players look into a 3D pit from a top-down perspective. Blocks appear at the top of the pit and slowly fall to the bottom and players move and rotate these blocks before placing them. The object of the game is to keep the stack of blocks from reaching the top of the pit. When you manipulate and place blacks to fill in an entire level of the pit, that entire level disappears and any blocks on top fall down to the next level.
Falling blocks appear as wire frame models so that players can see the block landscape at the bottom of the pit, while the blocks already at the bottom are colored differently to denote their respective elevations. A vertical bar at the left of the screen shows the different block colors at their different elevations from bottom to top, and indicates the current block's height in the pit with a small gray dot.
Players can customize their game by choosing one of three presets or tailoring every aspect individually. Block selection can be set to blocks with one flat surface, composed of 3D monstrosities with protruding appendages going every which way, and a block set somewhere in between. Rotations can be set to one of three speeds, and the height, width, and length of the pit can be adjusted with three presets: Flat Fun, 3D Mania, and Out of Control, fixes these variables at certain settings. ~ Kyle Knight, All Game Guide
