DESCRIPTION

The sequel to 2005's Area 51 remake, BlackSite continues Midway's first-person foray into Nevada with a mission-driven game promising multiple solutions for every scenario. Players control a former Special Forces assassin named Aeran Pierce, who along with his AI-controlled squad, will battle an assortment of alien and mutant creatures threatening the small town of Rachel, Nevada. Morale plays a part in each teammate's attributes, with players rewarded for using tactics and punished for engaging enemy forces against overwhelming odds.

Your squad's aim, fatigue, and desire to fight are all influenced by the decisions you make, which could spell the difference between a successful mission and a trip to the morgue. Commands given to the squad are mapped to a single button, allowing players to quickly order individuals to use a sniper rifle, plant explosives, or drive vehicles. The latter includes a choice of ATVs, HMMWVs, helicopters, and civilian automobiles. In addition to the cinematic single-player campaign, BlackSite features deathmatch, team deathmatch, capture the flag, siege, and other multiplayer options for up to 16 combatants. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

@Torinir That's true, but this is significant lol. Giant snake things come out the ground firing balls of pain and biting nearby, and my squads natural reaction is to run straight at it making no attemtpt to dodge or show oncoming projectiles :P It's been a while since I've played a game where they are quite this suicidal.”

Anyway, thanks for the kind words and the answering of my questiion :) I reconfigured my rental list so I should get more new titles in, but I'm trying not to cater too much to what the public want, because these are my adventures in gaming so I guess really I should just play what I feel like. I want to do some new games too though, so then I can be on the cutting edge from time to time. Like I want Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising (that may or may not be the right name) pretty much as soon as it comes out because it look so awesome.”

“I did play Cod4 SP, however I played it on Veteran, so any annoying AI has been completely eraased by the sheer pain of certain parts in that game. Like the Mile High Club achievement. *shudders*”

“So sad to see the Tony Hawk franchise beating itself up with every new release when their first 3 titles were winning awards like crazy from many different reviewers.

I agree with you. They need to kill the franchise or reboot it entirely. When it gets back to just having fun doing 2 minutes runs in skate parks they can call me.”

“The first Tony Hawk games on ps2 wern't bad, I didn't think they were as fun as the original but they were at least advancing in other areas, like being able to come off your board so you could walk up steps and things. But then it all went a bit downhill later on, and I disliked the edition of having street goals. Especially seeing as though it tells you were the start marker is for a grind, but half the time I can't even find the marker I'm meant to be grinding to.

For the mostpart I can't even specifically say where they've gone wrong, they've just made it less fun by making it more advanced and by adding very dodgy story elements into it., like the rigging, hardcore and career storylines in this one. At least THUG had one linear story for me to follow.”

“Nice review on Wet. I have not played the Demo yet but now you have me little more curious. It sounds a lot like Stranglehold as far as the sliding across and slow motion mechanics of the game, with a little GTE thrown in.”

“Gotta say I disgree with you on Wet, Jim, I felt the controls were sluggish, the combat was repetetive, and the slide mechanic felt broken. Several times I was stuck sliding into a wall until the slide animation finished even though the enemy was dead. The weapons didn't feel like they had any weight, and the enemy AI was about as sharp as a bargain bin knife set. ”

“To be fair I did slide into numerous steps where she just kind of, slid on the spot, and the enemy AI was pretty bad. Judging just by gameplay it wouldn't do so great, but it was the whole exagerated experience that sold me. I'm looking forward to playing the whole game to see just how much the dodgy stuff hinders it, because the demo isn't that long, but I still think it should be pretty cool in an extremely shallow expeience kind of way. Almost certainly a rent over a buy though. ”

“I was slightly put off when some person posted a video of themselves absoultely destroying the enemies with one hand off the controller. Although that was a pretty easy mode I think. It's slipped under my radar so far, so I literally headed (I wanna say I hud but thats wrong, does head have a past tense?) to yourube and it does look pretty cool. She jsut cast some epic spell or somethingto maul an enemy with a giant dragon. It doesn't look like my usual type of game but I'll probably give it a go at some point. ”
