DESCRIPTION
In BioShock, you take the role of an isolated crash survivor who discovers a city under the sea. This city, also known as Rapture, was once a utopia for scientists, artists, and industrialists. However, by the time your character takes his first steps into Rapture, the civilization has ceased to exist, and the place is nearly desolate. The signs of life your avatar finds are nothing like he's seen before. Creatures known as little sisters roam the streets of Rapture with enormous bodyguards called big daddies. Mutated humans drag their warped bodies around the city and attack you on sight.
The goal of the game is to find your way out of Rapture while uncovering the mysteries behind its existence. As you explore the open environment, you must defeat big daddies and little sisters to obtain a material known as Adam. The Adam can enhance your in-game attributes and unlock over 60 genetic skills that come in handy for all sorts of predicaments. The city of Rapture is almost completely interactive, and you may collect objects for later use. There are also six modifiable weapons to use including two types of guns. ~ Gracie Leach, All Game Guide

“This game ate days of my life. The Retro / Art Deco world created by a Howard Hughes style madman dragged you in and made you need to see what was next. And scary...how about the scene when you first get your shotgun?!? The story guided you but you could explore and get yourself into as much trouble as you could handle....sometimes more. The twists in the plot....'would you be so kind' as to play this game. I can only hope that the sequel meets the very high mark this game set.”

“This game pulled me in from the beginning. The atmosphere was incredible and very creepy. I got an appropriate sense of dread in the first 20 minutes of play. The voice acting is pretty good and the immersion works well up to a point. Despite the great story, the game-play got pretty repetitive toward the second half. I kept thinking, Finally! This is it -- I'm at the end, only to realize I had a whole new area to explore. However, reaching the end was satisfying. I only played through once, so I only saw one of the endings. I don't want to play through again, at least not for a long time, because of the boredom I suffered toward the latter 40%, so I may never see the other ending.”

“Best game I've ever played. This game has EVERYTHING, and I mean EVERYTHING. From the story, to the amazingly detailed, haunting, almost melancholic atmosphere, the wonderful visuals and environments, characters, and the gameplay. Oh, the gameplay! It's a joy. There are absolutely LIMITLESS ways in which you can tackle various scenarios and you can choose your plasmid upgrades to such an extent that you almost feel a bit of yourself in your character. Okay, that sounded strange, but whatever. It's a brilliant game, and there is quite simply no other game like it. An absolute MUST play for every fan of the FPS genre, or heck, videogames in general. BioShock is an experience.”
