DESCRIPTION
Two decades after the original Bionic Commando was released, Capcom resurrects their classic platform shooter in Bionic Commando Rearmed. Players once again take control of Nathan Spencer, the soldier whose bionic arm served as a weapon and a substitute for the jump button in the original game. Bionic Commando Rearmed has been given a complete graphical overhaul, including a new "2.5D" perspective, dynamic shadows, particle effects, and destructible environments, and the music has been re-engineered to reflect a modern take on the classic 8-bit NES sound. New multiplayer modes include Death Match, Last Man Standing, and Don't Touch the Floor, while 50 "challenge rooms" test players' swinging skills. ~ Christopher Brown, All Game Guide

“A remake of the classic. I enjoyed it when I burned some time away, however I found the controls frustrating as hell. The game is made for a controller.”

“Bionic Commando Rearmed is a remake of an old-school 2D platformer, and it's just about as old-school 2D platformey as you can get.
It's fun to play once you get the hang of it, the story is deliciously ridiculous and tongue-in-cheek, and there's a whole lot of content to find if you're the secret-hunting type.
On the flip side,I found the game slightly too hard for my tastes, especially the final level which I had to start over about a bazillion times. But that's also part of the vintage feel, I guess. Remember how you just kept dying at that difficult spot in Sonic the Hedgehog? Yeah, it's like that. Except the game actually saves between levels. Thank God.
So Bionic Commando is a perfectly executed remake in that it has all positive and negative aspects I associate with the old-school platforming genre. If that's your cup of tea, then it's definitely recommended. If not, well, there's still no reason not to pick this one up considering its low price.

“Great example of what retro game resurrection should be. It's classic, but in new shiny dress. Plus a little bonuses, such as new weapons and challenge rooms. I just love this game.”

“Wow, that was unexpected. At the time, I've spent a lot of my time on BC:R, but I've stuck on the last level. Today I installed it again and, surprisingly, beat that level on the very first try...”
