DESCRIPTION
Namco's surreal ball-rolling, junk-collecting series tumbles its way onto Xbox 360 with Beautiful Katamari. For its next-gen debut, Beautiful Katamari offers new levels and objectives to compete, a remixed soundtrack from classic J-Pop artists, and online support for up to four players. Once again the T-shaped character known as the Prince must roll objects into a sticky ball called a "katamari." The Prince will scoop up things great and small, from matchsticks to skyscrapers, while trying to complete such time-sensitive objectives as collecting specific item types or having the katamari reach a certain size. Multiplayer games include both cooperative and versus options, with the latter a race to see who can collect the most objects in the quickest time. The co-op mode involves working together to control the same katamari throughout 19 levels. Located within each vibrant stage are hidden presents to customize the princely protagonist, including the ability to unlock more than 50 of his kooky cousins. Xbox Live subscribers can not only compete against one another, but also view multiple leaderboards, track personal stats, and download additional Katamari content. ~ Scott Alan Marriott, All Game Guide

“It's an okay Katamari game. But still, it's a Katamari game, so it was good fun to play.”

The "world menu" thing was alright, but I'm not a huge fan. I would have liked a textual navigation option to help me get where I was going and to help me select the different characters....so with that aspect, it dropped a little for me.
I like the "collection" aspect as well although (for the achievement) it's been a pain to try and track down everything. ”

“I don't think anyone will be TOO angry about giving away the end to Beautiful Katamari. I'm actually surprised by this ending. 1.) Because it has an ending 2.) Because the father gave a...”

“That's always good to know.”

“Finished Katamari on Xbox360. I thought that game was without end. The King of the Cosmos actually complimented his son the Prince. My jaw hit the ground! A compliment come from the King. Wow. ...”

“I needed a break from FF13 and being angry everyday I play it. Now I'm happy.”

“Some more Katamari, just to pass the time until March 9th. Which is in 20 minutes. Haha YEAH!!!”

“So I guess this would be Katamari 3, except it's on the Xbox360.”

“They fixed a lot of problems that was wrong with the first game. The camera, the controls, the long and wordy dialogs that took forever to get through. 20-30 button presses, just to get to the game, which is now easily skipped with the "start" button. The King is still a jerk, so you're not missing anything in the dialog, except mental abuse between father and son. I don't need video games to see that -- I can see that in real life.
Lastly, they could have charged $10 which what it's actually worth now, not $20. But we'll over look that for the convenance of "not having to leave the house" fee. This is a chill back Sunday afternoon game, if you are familiar with the first and second games on the PS2. Don't expect anything new. It's the same game with an update fix. Basically it's "Katamari 1.5".”

“I just downloaded Beautiful Katamari. Why? I don't know. I'm just missing Zelda I guess. It's pretty fun. Katamari is the same no matter what system you play it on. Like I said in my review....”

Long story short: You play a tiny dude that must create celestial bodies with common items found on earth... go!
+ Customizability. Not that it changes the gameplay itself but it's possible to find new skins (the so-called cousins) and accessories. Some are real fun so it might be worth your time to look for them.
+ Unique gameplay mechanics. By now everybody knows it but that doesn't diminish the fact that this is a pretty darned weird game.
+ Difficulty. Most levels are hard... others are brutal :D This is a good thing because you'll mostly be rollin' in places you've been before, forcing you to prioritize.
+ Graphics. Not the quality but the cuteness! This game is hard but never frustatingly so because of the way this game looks.
- Levels. There aren't too many and you'll be doing them multiple times.
- Difficulty. A challenge is real nice but sometimes it's absurd. I still shiver when I think about the mission where you've got to get your Katamari to 1000° Celsius... And getting Endless mode is quite a pain as well.
- Online. I really think they've missed a good chance there but ok...”
