DESCRIPTION
The first expansion pack for EA's popular World War II shooter focuses on the conflict's Italian and Sicilian campaigns. Battlefield 1942: The Road to Rome adds six new maps, including locations based on the battles for Anzio and Monte Cassino, as well as Operation Husky.
The expansion's eight new vehicles include German BF-110 and British Mosquito twin-engine fighter-bombers, an Italian torpedo boat, and British and German tanks. Two new forces, the French legionnaires and Italian military, are featured in this add-on as well.
While the focus of Battlefield 1942 is on multiplayer action, with up to 64 combatant in the same game, this add-on, like the original, also features a single-player mode. Solo games in Road to Rome are unscripted but boast improved AI, for a different challenge each time they're played. Like most expansion pack's, a full installation of the main game is required for play. ~ T.J. Deci, All Game Guide
